- Teased ahead of its global debut on 14 August

Mahindra has officially teased the production-spec version of its much-awaited Global Pik Up. Based on the Scorpio N, the new lifestyle pickup truck is set to make its global debut on 14 August, nearly three years after the concept was first showcased in South Africa. The latest teasers give us our first official look at the production version, including its exterior design and cabin.
The Global Pik Up was first showcased in concept form at Mahindra’s Futurescape event in Cape Town in 2023. It was developed as part of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in international markets and will be positioned as a lifestyle pickup rather than a conventional workhorse. Mahindra has already confirmed that the model is based on its new-generation ladder-frame platform.
Mahindra Global Pik Up: Exterior design
The teaser images reveal a pickup that retains several design cues from the Scorpio N, while gaining a substantially different body towards the rear. Up front, the truck gets a broad grille with Mahindra’s twin-peak logo, flanked by vertically stacked lighting elements and slim LED daytime running lights. The overall stance appears considerably wider and more muscular than the SUV.
The side-profile teaser reveals a double-cab layout with a long cargo bed, prominent wheel arches, roof rails and large alloy wheels. The pickup also appears to have a relatively long wheelbase, giving it the proportions expected from a global lifestyle pickup.
At the rear, the production model gets vertically oriented C-shaped tail lamps, a large tailgate and prominent Mahindra lettering. The teaser also shows a horizontal light element positioned below the rear glass, giving the pickup a distinctive appearance at night.
The production model appears to have stayed fairly close to the original Global Pik Up concept in terms of its overall silhouette. The concept itself was designed by Mahindra India Design Studio and was intended to combine ruggedness with the styling and usability expected from a modern lifestyle pickup.
Mahindra Global Pik Up: Interior and features
The latest teaser also gives us a detailed look at the cabin. Unlike the current Scorpio N, the pickup gets a significantly revised dashboard with a large, vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system positioned in the centre. The display is surrounded by chunky vertical air vents and metallic-looking trim.
The cabin also gets a digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel carrying Mahindra’s twin-peak logo. The centre console features a conventional automatic-style gear selector, rotary control and multiple physical buttons.
Earlier spy images had already revealed several of these elements, including the large infotainment display, button-based HVAC controls, brown leatherette upholstery and the six-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra Global Pik Up: Engine and specifications
Mahindra is yet to reveal the complete technical specifications of the production-spec pickup. However, it is expected to share its powertrain options with the Scorpio N. Earlier reports suggest that the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines could be offered, with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions likely to be available.
The Global Pik Up is also expected to retain a four-wheel-drive system. When the concept was unveiled, Mahindra showcased it with its 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system and a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Mahindra Global Pik Up: Rivals and launch
The new pickup will enter the lifestyle pickup segment and is expected to take on models such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross. Unlike the Scorpio-based pickups of the past, the Global Pik Up is being developed as a separate global product with a stronger focus on international markets.
With the production version now officially teased, the Global Pik Up is finally moving from concept to reality. More details, including its final name, engine specifications, features and pricing, are expected to be revealed at Mahindra’s 14 August event.
