- Can charge up to four EVs at a time
- Cross-compatibility for all brands
Mahindra recently inaugurated two 180kW fast chargers in Hoskote, Bengaluru-Chennai Highway (NH75) and Murthal, 50km from Delhi (NH44). The carmaker seeks to expand this grid to 250 stations and 1,000 guns (all 180kW) by 2027. A single station can charge up to four EVs at once.

In a country where charging stations are now sprawling, the same provides an impetus to increased EV adoption. For reference, the Charge_IN network can top up the likes of the BE 6 and the XEV 9e from 20-80 per cent in 20 minutes. However, these guns are cross-compatible, and EV owners, irrespective of the brand, can use this network to charge their cars. These chargers can be discovered either via the Me4_U app or aggregator services.

Tips for Long-distance EV Commutes
- Although the number of chargers is increasing at a reasonably good pace, it is always a good practice to vet into the available charging network and have the car ready to go to the next charger, in case the nearest charger is unavailable/defunct.
- Plan commutes: This is the first step before charting out a complete travel route and checking for chargers on the way. This is where you plan your stops and stays, if applicable.
- Juice up: Having the car at a 100 per cent SoC (State of Charge) before leaving, is always a good practice.
- Cruise at constant speeds: Maintaining speeds between 80-100kmph is ideal for open highways.
- Mindfully use HVAC: Keep long-distance comfort in mind. Avoid testing your car’s gizmos during long runs. Every percentage matters on long stretches, where regen is practically negligible.
