Thank you for joining us for the race weekend - see you once again in less than a weeks time in Baharain which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will stage a night race. 

Benedict Cumberbatch a.k.a Sherlock Holmes is on the podium interviewing the winners.  

Alo, Hul, But, Mas, Bot, Mag and Kvy get points this weekend.

Hamilton wins! - Ros and Vet join him on the podium.

Mercedes looks set to get the first 1-2 finish since 1955, Vettel will join them on the podium ahead of Alonso and Hulkenberg.

And we are in to the final lap - this looks like easy win for Mercedes.

Alonso steals P4 from Hulk on Lap 53. Three laps to go, does he have enought to get Vettel?

Massa all over back for Button for P6 - some efforts from the McLaren driver to defend that place.

Five laps to go - Game-on for the final place on podium. Alonso looking to take Hulk and Vettel.

Vettel in and out of pits clean in P3 - Hulkenberg still in P4.

Alonso is catching Hulkernberg for P4 - we should see some wheel-to-wheel racing in next couple of laps.

Less than 10 laps to go and the horizon is filled with dark clouds. Looks like we might have some showers at the end of the race.

Replays show Ricciardo's wing jolted on a kerb on the entrance to the back straight.

Stewards give a 10 seconds stop/go penalty to Red Bull while race leader Hamilton clocks a lap time of 1:44:329

Lap 45 and is he out in P16 - Hamilton at the other end clocks the fastest time again - 1.44.329!

Things go from bad to wore for Red Bull driver - his nose is touching the ground.  Ricciardo is back in pits.

Ok - replays confirm that there was mistake on part of the engineers in fitting the tyre - mechanics did not fit THE front left properly. Stewards looking at the issue for unsafe release.

And a big mistake from Red Bull driver -  Ricciardo over shoots the pit - mechanics push him back.

Lap 40: Hamilton running away at the top - Ros, Vet, Ric, Alo. Hul, Mas, Bot, But and Gro complete the top tenSauber retires Gutierrez - bad day for the Swiss team, both cars out of the race!

More issues with the fuel sensor for Red Bull- Red Bull is conversing with the FIA to adhere to the regulations. 

We have few drops of rain on the track now. 

Adrian Sutil packs up on the start-finish straight!

Race leader in and out of pits - mediums for Hamilton, Hulkenberg in P2.

Lap 33 - Rosberg pits another set of mediums for the Mercedes driver.

Mercerdes AMG says rains on the radar!

After some struggle Grosjean overtakes Kobayashi for P12. 

Hard tyres on the Red Bull for for this stint. Magnussen clocks the fastest lap on lap 31-1:46.110.

Ricciardo makes a clinical stop - he is now in P5. 

Alonso pits again and out in P6 - Massa in and out as well, he is now in P9.

 We are in lap 27,no signs of rains - weather is expected to remain the same till the end.

Magnunssen back in P10 after Kvyat pits

Toro Rosso retires Vergne - he is the fourth to retire after Perez, Maldonado and Bianchi. 

 Lap 20 now, Hamilton is 10 seconds clear of his team mate Rosberg in second position. 

Red Bull asks Ricciardo to take care of his tyres. 

Hamilton has used the least amount of fuel of the front runners, Raikkonen passes Ericsson for P17. 

We are on lap 17, as Raikkonen fights the backmarkers at P18.

In and out of pit for Force India driver he is now P6

Hamilton overtakes Hulk - Force India driver has to pit soon, he is losing time.

Hul, Ham. Ros, Vet. Ric and Alo are the top five drivers while Vettel clocks the fastest lap-1:46.334 on lap 16. 

Hulkenberg in lead as as Hamilton pits

Nico Rosberg pits from second place and emerges on to the track in 3rd place ahead of Vettel. 

Sebastian Vettel pits and emerges in 4th place. 

Red Bull pits Riccardio, he is out to fight with Alonso. 

Sutil and Ericsson also in the pits now. 

Alonso pits from P5 - he is out in P10

Kvyat, Gutierrez and Chilton all pit and look to be following a three stop strategy. 

And weekend has been spoiled for the Danish driver - he has been given 5 seconds stop-go penalty for collision with Kimi. 

Magnunssen is the first one to pit - McLarens is also changing the nose of the car. He is on from P17 after a 14 second stop. 

No change in the top ten order, Grosjean up in 12th position for Lotus. 

We are expecting three stops from most cars and the first of the cars should start coming-in in the next three laps. Pastor Maldonando retires in lap 8. 

We are in lap 7 and Nico Rosberg goes fastest clocking a timing of 1:47.321 -Bianchi gets the first stop and go penalty in 2014 for causing a crash in turn 4 first lap involving Maldonado.

Fastest lap by Hamilton - he is now 4.3 seconds clear of Rosberg. 

Replays show Kimi suffered a puncture after Magnunssen hit him from the back

After lap 5, DRS has been activated  and here are the top ten drivers - Ham, Ros, Vet, Ric, Alo, Hul, But, Mag, Mas and  Bot

Force India has decided to retire Sergio Perez he is back in the pits

Something wrong with Kimi's car, he is losing power and everyone has started overtaking him. Bianchi has a puncture and is now limping back to pits.

We are live, Hamilton holds position at start, Nico Rosberg and Daniel Ricciardo overtake  Vettle through first few corner. Alonso also loses a position and now in P5 ahead of Raikkonen

And we are waiting for the five red lights for the start of the 2014 Malaysian GP

Sergio Perez will take the start from the pit lane.

Less than three minutes to go - drivers ready, strapped-in and now they are off for the formation lap

Bad news for Force India - Sergio Perez is still in garage due to some tech issue. He was suppose to start on P14 and has few more minutes to join the grid.

10 minutes to go, it is nice and sunny at this moment, but it takes only so  much for the weather to change so close to the Equator.

12 minutes to go - we start with Malaysian national anthem, before that the entire fraternity maintained two minutes silence for victims of MH370.

We are 20 minutes away from the start of the second race of the 2014 Formula 1 season. The weather is hot and humid with chances of lights showers in the next couple of hours. Hopefully things won’t get as flooded as yesterday, wherein stewards will have to step in for safety reasons. 

Mercedes once again posted a strong performance with Lewis Hamilton taking the second pole in as many races. Wet conditions had negated some of the straight-line advantage of Mercedes powertrain, giving Red Bull and Ferrari a chance of competing for pole position. Vettel managed to get on the first row alongside Hamilton, while Fernando Alonso sits close behind on the second row at P4 behind Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.
