The Kia Syros has been on sale for some time now, and buyers opting for the top variants can choose between the turbo petrol with a DCT or the diesel with a torque converter automatic. However, enthusiasts who prefer the turbo-petrol engine with a manual gearbox, have to settle for the HTX trim as the highest available option in this combination. This variant carries a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.20kmpl, and we have now put that figure to test in real-world conditions.

The Syros comes with a 45-litre fuel tank. During our city test cycle, the vehicle returned an actual mileage of 9.78kmpl, while the instrument cluster indicated 11.3kmpl. On the highway run, the MID showed 14.2kmpl, whereas our tank-to-tank calculation delivered 13.10kmpl. Overall, the turbo-petrol manual setup does not emerge as the most fuel-efficient option in the Syros range. For reference, this 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

For buyers still keen on this powertrain, the HTX variant offers a fairly generous feature list. It includes a panoramic sunroof, cooled front seats, reclining rear seats, Type-C charging ports, LED headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear AC vents, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Meanwhile, the diesel manual Syros remains the most efficient in the lineup with a claimed mileage of 20.75kmpl. We have also tested the real-world fuel efficiency of the diesel automatic version, details of which are available separately.
