We recently got our hands on the diesel automatic version of Kia’s popular mid-size SUV, the Seltos. In our short stint with the vehicle, we managed to put it through our patented mileage tests, and we now have the results in our hands.
In the city, the Kia Seltos consumed 6.14 litres of diesel over a trip of 75.7kms. This resulted in a mileage of 12.32kmpl. Similarly, our highway run saw the Seltos Diesel AT run for 77.6kms, drinking 4.66 litres of fuel, thus ending up with a fuel efficiency of 16.65kmpl. The MID figures for the city and highway mileage stood at 10.7kmpl and 18.6kmpl, respectively. Thus, the combined real-world mileage stood at 13.3kmpl. It is to be noted that Kia has not revealed the official mileage figures of the new Seltos, which was launched in January this year.
The Seltos in question is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel motor that is tuned to develop 144bhp and 250Nm. This version was paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, but is also offered with a six-speed manual gearbox. Kia also offers this Maruti Victoris rival with 1.5-litre NA petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, paired with six-speed manual, IVT, and seven-speed DCT units.
