Kia has just revealed its smallest and most affordable electric SUV yet. Positioned in the B-SUV segment, the EV2 is aimed at expanding Kia’s electric portfolio and making EV ownership more accessible in European markets.
The EV2 is underpinned by Kia’s current electric platform and will be manufactured in Europe. It is positioned below models like the EV3 and EV4. It will be offered with two battery options. The standard-range version features a 42.2kWh battery with a claimed WLTP range of up to 317km, while the long-range variant gets a 61kWh battery offering up to 448km (WLTP figures yet to be revealed).
Both versions use a 400V architecture and support DC fast charging, allowing a 10-80 per cent charge in around 30 minutes. Notably, the EV2 supports both 11kW and 22kW AC charging at launch, enhancing home and public charging convenience.
Design and features
Measuring around 4,060mm in length, the EV2 sports compact proportions with SUV-inspired styling. Design highlights include Kia’s typical lighting signature, upright stance, and wheel options ranging from 16 to 19 inches. A GT-Line variant adds sportier exterior elements.

Inside, the EV2 features a minimalist cabin with a triple-screen layout comprising dual 12.3-inch displays and a 5.3-inch climate control screen. Despite its size, it offers strong practicality, with sliding and reclining rear seats and a boot capacity of up to 403 litres, along with a 15-litre frunk.
India relevance
The EV2’s compact size, SUV body style, and focus on affordability align well with Indian market preferences. However, Kia India currently has no plans for the EV2. If localised and priced competitively, the EV2 could potentially take on Hyundai’s new compact EV, which is currently under development and confirmed for India.
