India-made Tata Nexon scores four-stars at Global NCAP

- Four-star adult occupant protection for head and neck of driver and passenger
- Gets dual front airbags, ABS brakes and ISOFIX anchorages as standard
- ISOFIX anchorages with ISOFIX Child Restraint Systems (CRS) has helped gain three stars rating for child occupant protection

Tata’s compact SUV, the Nexon has earned a four-star crash test rating at the Euro NCAP. In terms of safety, the company offers dual front airbags, ABS brakes and ISOFIX anchorages as standard, thereby scoring four stars in adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection.

The report highlights that the Nexon from Tata Motors has been released with a set of safety features in the form of high-strength steel construction and critical reinforcements. The development has helped the vehicle earn a four-star adult occupant protection for head and neck of driver and passenger. Moreover, the test also revealed that it offered adequate protection for their chest with a stable structure, at 64kmph offset deformable barrier crash test. The ISOFIX anchorages with ISOFIX Child Restraint Systems (CRS) has resulted in Nexon earning three stars for child occupant protection. Furthermore, the rearward-facing CRS installed with ISOFIX anchorages showed good protection to the 18-month-old child, whereas the forward facing ISOFIX CRS ensured good protection for the head and limited protection to the chest.

Speaking on the occasion, David Ward, Secretary General of Global NCAP said, “The four stars awarded to the Tata Nexon represent a very strong result from a major Indian car manufacturer. This impressive safety performance is comfortably above the new crash test standards applied in India to new models since October 2017. It is very encouraging to see Tata aiming high for safety and a great example for others to follow. The race is clearly on for India’s first 5-star car!”
