- India launch in September
- Will be produced at the Gujarat plant
The India-made Maruti e Vitara will be exported from India to Japan. This will be the fourth domestically produced car to be exported to Japan, joining the likes of the Fronx, Baleno, and the five-door Jimny, which is being sold in Japan as the Jimny Nomad. The latter currently has a two-year waiting period. Japan is one of the big contributors to Maruti’s exports and ranks in their top five in terms of numbers.
The e Vitara is (Maruti) Suzuki’s first-ever EV, and will be produced in India, for the world, at their factory in Gujarat. It was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 and will be offered across three variants and two battery pack options in India. We have exclusive details on its charge times and the all-important zero to 100kmph time.
This is the first of the four EVs that Suzuki has planned for its lineup, and is expected to be joined by an electric Fronx, Jimny, and a Wagon R. However, the automaker has openly said that it is playing the EV game cautiously, and the arrival of these future models will bank on the success of the e Vitara. Lastly, the e Vitara will also spawn a Toyota-equivalent Urban Cruiser EV.
