Volkswagen is all set to launch the Golf GTI in India either this month or the next. The hot hatch will be imported via the CBU route, and pre-bookings began this month. Let us take a look at some pictures of the globally acclaimed Golf GTI, set to debut here soon.

The Golf GTI is a performance version of the standard Golf. It gets a powerful engine to stay true to its purpose, and gets cosmetic tweaks to stand apart from the standard car.
Finished in a two-tone Oyster Silver Metallic and black roof dual-tone in the global version, we believe a grey shade might be their signature/launch colour from other interesting exterior shades.
However, like we've seen globally, the Golf GTI rides on 18-inch 'Richmond' alloy wheels. They fill the wheel wells nicely and look proportionate.
In its latest generation, the GTI features a slim fascia with sleek LED headlights, multi-jeweled fog lights, and an illuminated VW logo in the grille.
Surprisingly, there's no 'Golf' badge anywhere on the car, given that it's being introduced for the first time in India. Our market never got the standard Golf.
That said, it has the 'GTI' emblem at three spots - on the front grille, fenders, and the tailgate. And these are bold red GTI badges.
At the back, the GTI gets C-shaped LED tail lights, dual exhausts, and a roof spoiler to complete the look of the hot hatch.
Inside, this sporty hatchback gets an all-black interior with red elements to break the monotony. For example, there's red stitching and red accents on the steering wheel.
Apart from the red elements including the GTI badge on the three-spoke steering wheel, other highlights inside its cabin include a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster.
Moreover, the car gets a sunroof, which is an instant check box tick away item, going by the craze for sunroofs and customer demand in India.
Powertrain
But now, let's get to the crux of the matter — the GTI's powerful engine. The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that churns out 261bhp and 370Nm torque! It comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims the Golf GTI can accelerate from zero to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, topping out at 250kmph. Besides, the car has driving modes — Sport, Comfort, and Eco. Additionally, the hot hatch comes equipped with a front axle differential lock and progressive steering.
