Hyundai has unveiled the all-electric version of its Staria MPV at the Brussels Motor Show. Called the Staria Electric, it marks the first fully electric iteration of Hyundai’s large people-mover, and is scheduled to go on sale in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026. Other global markets are expected to follow at a later stage.
The EV is powered by an 84kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor, producing 160kW (215bhp) and 350Nm of torque. Hyundai claims an estimated WLTP driving range of up to 400km. The MPV uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables DC fast charging from 10-80 per cent in around 20 minutes under optimal conditions. An 11kW AC onboard charger is also offered.
In terms of layout, the Staria Electric retains the long, boxy proportions of the ICE-powered model, prioritising interior space and ease of access. Hyundai will offer the electric MPV in two seating configurations at launch: a seven-seat Luxury variant and a nine-seat Wagon version. Depending on configuration, luggage capacity ranges from 435 litres to 1,303 litres with all seats in place.
Design changes over the ICE Staria include a closed-off front fascia, EV-specific detailing, and a horizontal LED lighting signature. The charging port is positioned at the front for easier access at public charging stations.
Inside, the MPV features a flat floor layout and a high roofline to maximise headroom and ease of movement between rows. The dashboard houses dual 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system, running Hyundai’s latest ccNC software with over-the-air update capability. Physical buttons remain for frequently used functions.
While Hyundai has confirmed European and Korean availability, there is no official word on an India launch yet. Given the limited adoption of large MPVs and EV charging infrastructure constraints, its prospects for the Indian market remain uncertain at this stage.
