Images of the new Hyundai Kona compact SUV are out. Hyundai plans to appeal to the urban buyers with their new life-style vehicle. The images appear to have been leaked prematurely from the Korean brand's press pack

The new vehicle is equipped with a sharp looking, full LED day time running lights with the headlamps integrated in the body cladding right at the edge of the bumpers. The fog lamps sit lower integrated into the bumper lip of the car.

Exteriors get a cross over treatment with body cladding and the roof rails. The vehicle also carries futuristic styling cues from Hyundai’s family design. All in all, the Kona hits the sweet spot and comes across as a radical looking urban crossover.

Inside the cabin Hyundai has revealed brand-fresh technology by way of a new heads-up display. The vehicle also features an eight inch infotainment system which sits above the instruments and doubles up as Sat-Nav.

The might be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol producing 121bhp and a 1.6-litre diesel engine producing 126bhp. A 1.4-litre diesel engine could also be offered in the lower trims. The vehicle is likely to be mated to an automatic gearbox as an option.

The new urban vehicle is expected to hit the Indian shores later next year. When launched, the new Hyundai Kona will rival against the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Also being based on the likes of a cross over the Kona will compete with the Honda WR-V as well.
