Hyundai India achieves five lakh cars sold milestone in 2016

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has achieved their target of selling five lakh vehicles in the domestic market in 2016. The carmaker clocked domestic sales of 5,00,537 units this calender year and registered a growth of 5.2 per cent.

In 2015, HMIL sold 4,76,001 units, while their cumulative sales accounted to 6,43,269 units. Their sales numbers have grown to 6,62,054 units in 2016 showing a growth of 2.9 per cent.

YK Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India said, “2016 has been an Year of Excellence for Hyundai in India achieving various milestones - Celebrating 20 years in India, the roll out of seven Millionth car in November’16, crossing the five lakh domestic sales in CY2016 and the fastest 50,000 unit sales in the month of October. The launch of the new Elantra and Tucson have created new benchmarks in their respective segments signifying Hyundai as a trendsetter brand in India. Hyundai brands have also scored top rankings in both quality and design parameters in IQS and APEAL studies. Hyundai, a lifetime partner in automobile and beyond, will continue to bring world-class products, services to the customers and be a socially responsible corporate to realize long term vision of being the most loved and trusted brand.”

HMIL has achieved success by surpassing their targeted half-million units sales milestone in India. This sales success can be attributed to the Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta, which have been the company's super performer brands in our country. The newly launched Elantra and Tucson have redefined the premium segment in the Indian market. Let’s hope the carmaker launches new models for the Indian market, while also updating the existing models.
