Hyundai Grand i10 facelift to get 1.2-litre diesel engine

Hyundai’s Grand i10 has always been a popular choice in the hatchback segment. Currently, the vehicle is available in petrol and diesel engine options in the country. Hyundai plans on launching a facelift model in India in the coming months which along with fresh cosmetic upgrades, the new model might also get a new 1.2-litre diesel engine. Supporting claims, import records reveal that Hyundai had imported a single unit of Grand i10 which is powered by a larger 1.2-litre engine for homologation purpose.

The petrol version will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre unit that generates 81bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. However, the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine mated to five-speed manual transmission will offer slightly better power output figures that the current 1.1-litre engine which produces 70bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. The hike in power output will help it compete strongly against the Maruti Swift diesel variant. 

As for design, the new model will come with revised headlamps, new bumper and a new grille. As for interior, the new model will get revised upholstery and a new integrated touchscreen infotainment system which may be limited to top spec variant. The vehicle will also get driver airbag as standard across all variants. As for pricing, the new model is expected to be priced around the existing range.
