Hyundai, at its first-ever India Investor Day, has announced that it will bring eight new hybrid models to the sub-continent by 2030. The hybrid range will span the automaker's complete range and include both existing and new nameplates.
The automaker has said that currently petrol and CNG contribute to 99 per cent of the automaker's volumes in India and that by 2030, once these eight models have been launched, hybrid would contribute to a projected 16 per cent of their total volumes. With the Indian market moving towards larger cars, we expect the first vehicle to join this race to be the Creta SUV, followed by the Venue.
The automaker has announced a total of 26 launches by 2030, the likes of which will include an MPV and an off-road SUV. The former is expected to be a sister car to the Kia Carens, whilst the latter will attempt to make inroads into the market held by the Maruti Jimny, Mahindra Thar/Roxx, and the Force Gurkha.
