Honda is all set to launch the WR-V, their new compact crossover, on March 16 in India. The vehicle is based on the Jazz hatchback though it sports a few design tweaks to lend it SUV-like characteristics. The Honda WR-V is 3,999mm in length, 1,734mm in width and has a height of 1,601mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,555mm.
The fascia gets a huge chrome bar on the grille and the headlamps sport DRLs. Faux skid plates can also be seen on the bumper.
To give it the crossover look, the WR-V gets body cladding on the wheel arches. The same can be seen on the door panels as well.
The car rides on diamond cut alloy wheels. The VX variant gets 16-inch alloy wheels which are shod with 195/60 R16 tyres.
The kerb weight of the petrol S variant is 1,087kg, while that of the diesel is 1,176kg. The WR-V has a fuel tank capacity of 40litres and 363litres of boot space.
The cabin boasts of features like an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, keyless entry, button start/stop system and cruise control.
There is a 17.7cm infotainment system that supports satellite navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, USB, and an internal memory of 1.5GB. The system also supports Wifi and Mirror Link.
On the safety front, the car comes equipped with ABS with EBD, dual airbags, multi angle rear view camera and brake override system.
The suspension duties on the WR-V are carried out by McPherson struts at the front and a twisted torsion beam at the rear.
In all variants of the WR-V, the front wheels get ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels make do with drum brakes.
The WR-V petrol gets a 1.2-litre four-cylinder SOHC engine which produces 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox only.
The diesel motor is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC engine, which churns out 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
