Honda India appoints Katsushi Inoue as the new president and CEO

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced a few changes in the top brass of the company. Mr Katsushi Inoue has been appointed as the new president and CEO of HCIL while Mr Hiroyuki Shimizu will be the new senior VP and director of the company’s marketing and sales division.

Mr Katsushi Inoue has been associated with Honda for over 29 years now and till recently, was serving as the GM of Marketing Planning office at Honda’s headquarters in Japan. Mr Inoue has taken the reigns of HCIL from Mr Hironori Kanayama, who served in the position for three years. It was under Mr Kanayama’s tenure that Honda strengthened its position in the Indian market, with the help of several important launches like the new City, Mobilio and most important of all - the 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel engine. Mr Kanayama has now successfully retired and plans to move back to Japan.

Mr Hiroyuki Shimizu served as the director and VP of Honda’s operations in Thailand in his last assignment. Having worked for Honda for over 25 years, he now takes over as the senior VP and director of the marketing and sales department from Mr Shigeru Yamazaki, who has been serving in this position for almost three years. Mr Yamazaki will now be moving to the company’s headquarters as the head of Automobile Operations Business Planning.
