- Most affordable Volvo
- Single motor only
Volvo India is about to launch its most affordable model, the EX30. It’s an electric crossover that could become the Swedish brand’s gateway for luxury car buyers. Expected to be priced around Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom), the EX30 will sit below the EX40 and the EC40 in Volvo’s electric lineup.
The EX30 combines compact proportions with Volvo’s premium appeal, making it well-suited for India’s urban environment. Despite being the smallest model in the brand’s portfolio, the model offers a refined cabin with high-quality materials, minimalist design dominated by a vertical touchscreen, and good build quality.

Performance will also be a key draw. The single-motor, long-range variant does zero to 100kmph in 5.3 seconds, offering a WLTP-rated driving range of 480km on a single charge. This balance of performance and usability makes the EX30 a good option for younger buyers looking to enter the luxury EV space.

In terms of rivals, the EX30 will target the middle ground between mainstream premium EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BYD Atto 3, and higher-priced luxury offerings such as the BMW iX1 and the Mercedes-Benz EQA. We believe its relatively accessible price point, combined with Volvo’s safety reputation, could give the EX30 a strong edge in India’s growing EV market.

The EX30 also represents a strategic move for Volvo, aimed at attracting first-time customers to the brand. With the promise of premium features, strong performance, and sustainable packaging, the EX30 could redefine how buyers perceive entry-level luxury EVs in India.
