Showcasing its technological potential, Singapore based Vanda Electrics has unveiled its first supercar - a two-seat hypercar named Dendrobium EV Concept at the ongoing 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The performance oriented stylish beast is developed in cooperation with Williams Advanced engineering the technology and engineering services division of the Williams Group. Reports indicate that the new model is capable of doing 0 – 100kmph in just about 2.7-seconds and is capable of achieving a top speed of 322kmph.
Though the vehicle is currently unveiled in the concept form, the production version might get two inboard-mounted electric motor per axle. The hypercar will get a single-speed gearbox and a differential at the front, while the rear might get a multi-speed gearbox and a differential. Though there are no technical details and specifications available for now, we believe that the Dendrobium might get the latest of safety equipment and electronics to make it one the best options available in the automotive world. Based on feedback received at the Geneva Motor Show, the vehicle will start production in 2020.
The Dendrobium has been developed by Vanda’s in-house team. The automatic doors and roof open in a sychronised manner to resemble a fully-opened dendrobium flower, a genus of orchids native to Singapore. Speaking about the unique design, the company states that it helps easy ingress and egress as compared to other hypercars. The vehicle weighs 1,750kg as it features a composite monocoque chassis. Moreover, it also attributes it low weight benefit to carbonfibre body panels, carbon ceramic brake discs and lightweight alloy calipers inside 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloy wheels which are wrapped in Michelin high performance tyres.
Carbonfibre has been extensively used for the interior as well. The vehicle gets bright red body-hugging sports seat which contrasts with the black interior. The driver as well as well as passenger seats that feature stitching and motifs inspired by muscle fibres. The concept version features leather from the cotland's Bridge of Weir Leather Company which sources the best hides from the best heritage breeds and has adopted the very latest technology. The result is the lowest carbon tannery and leather product in the world - the perfect material for a zero emission halo model.
