Ferrari has launched the Portofino in India at Rs 3.50 crores. It’s the entry-level model from the Italian automaker and replaces the California T in their lineup. This ‘entry-level’ Ferrari is a hard top convertible and is equipped with the latest in what Ferrari has to offer.
We begin with the looks department where the Portofino displays their latest design language. The wide grille, large wheels and rear profile appears wider when you look at it from the head-on angle. The car’s appearance is one of duality as it takes on one persona with the roof up and a slightly different one when the roof is down. By the way, this hardtop can be raised or lowered while on the go, at speeds of up to 50kmph.
In that typical modern Ferrari fashion, everything in the cabin is lined in alcantera and high quality plastics along with some dabs of leather here and there. The look is minimalistic, but because everything is so well laid out, it all looks coherent and classy. The feature list is pretty impressive as you get multiple safety protection systems, 18-way adjustable seats, 10.2-inch display for the touchscreen system and even a small display for the passenger side.
The Portofino makes use of the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 powering the 488 GTB. Here it’s good for 591bhp/700Nm.
There’s and e-differential, 7-speed F1 derived dual clutch transmission and rear-wheel steering as a part of the package.
To be honest, there’s not much that will take on the Portofino in terms of pricing and realistically speaking, there’s the Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Huracan, upcoming Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
