- Ferrari CZ26 gets a bespoke design created for a US client
- It retains the SF90 Stradale’s 797 CV V8 hybrid powertrain
Ferrari has taken the wraps off the CZ26, a one-off created under its Special Projects programme. The car has been developed for a US client and gets a completely bespoke exterior and interior, while underneath, it retains the technical package of the SF90 Stradale.
Ferrari CZ26 design
The biggest change is, of course, the design. Unlike the SF90 Stradale, the CZ26 gets a more horizontal profile and a distinctive two-box shape. The front has a full-width grille with slim lighting elements, while the rear gets a truncated tail and cantilevered taillights.
There is also a large upper rear spoiler and a dedicated diffuser, both of which have been developed with aerodynamics in mind. The design has quite a few interesting details, including carbon-fibre elements around the wheel arches and a very clean treatment of the bodywork. Ferrari says the design takes inspiration from Italian industrial design from the 1970s.
The car is finished in Argento Veloce, a silver shade, with Rosso Lampante highlights and exposed carbon-fibre elements. It also gets bespoke wheels and titanium exhaust tailpipes.
Ferrari CZ26 interior
The same approach continues inside. The CZ26 gets a bespoke black technical fabric, specially designed seat inserts made using additive manufacturing, carbon-fibre trim and red detailing.
There is also a CZ26 logo embroidered into the cabin, along with body-coloured sections on the doors and dashboard.
Ferrari CZ26 powertrain and performance
Despite the extensive redesign, Ferrari has not changed the core powertrain. The CZ26 uses the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 as the SF90 Stradale, producing 786 bhp and 804 Nm. The electric motors add up to 162kW, with a 7.9kWh battery offering up to 25km of electric range.
The powertrain is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Ferrari claims a 0–100kmph time of 2.5 seconds, while 0–200kmph takes 6.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at 328kmph.
The CZ26 measures 4,762mm in length, 2,005mm in width and 1,189mm in height, with a 2,650mm wheelbase. Its weight distribution is 45:55 between the front and rear.
Ferrari CZ26 aerodynamics
Ferrari has also made several changes underneath the new bodywork. The front cooling system and airflow management have been reworked, while the underbody and vortex generator system have been redesigned.
The front bumper gets an air curtain system to manage airflow around the front wheels. At the rear, the new spoiler and diffuser have been designed to add downforce without compromising aerodynamic efficiency.
Ferrari CZ26: a true one-off
The CZ26 is part of Ferrari’s Special Projects programme, where customers can work with Ferrari’s design team to create a completely unique car. Ferrari says the process typically takes around two years, from the initial idea through design and development to production.
Ferrari has not revealed how much the CZ26 cost its owner. And considering there is only one of them, that figure is unlikely to be the most interesting part of the story anyway.
