- Volkswagen to release official statement next month
In an exclusive scoop, we have learned that Volkswagen India will soon be initiating a recall for certain units of its Taigun and Virtus models. The recall affects a total of 21,513 vehicles manufactured between 24 May, 2024, and 1 April, 2025.

The decision to recall these vehicles stems from an issue identified during the carmaker's ongoing quality control process. According to our sources, the rear seatbelts in the affected Taigun and Virtus units may pose a safety risk in an unfortunate event of a frontal collision. Specifically, the rear seatbelt buckle latch plate could potentially break, and/or the webbing of the rear centre seatbelt assembly, along with the buckle of the rear right seatbelt, might fail. This could compromise the safety of passengers occupying the rear seats during an impact.

The Volkswagen Taigun and the Virtus, currently available with starting ex-showroom prices of Rs. 11.80 lakh and Rs. 11.56 lakh respectively, are offered with both 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine options, along with manual and automatic transmission choices.
Official details regarding the recall process and timelines are expected to be announced by Volkswagen India shortly. Owners of the vehicles manufactured within the specified period are advised to stay tuned for further updates from the company.
