- Based on the same underpinnings as the Skoda Kylaq
- Will rival the Nexon, Sonet, Brezza, and more
After confirming the model in 2024, Volkswagen has commenced official testing of the new Tera sub-four-metre SUV. Rivalling the Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and the Kia Sonet, it is expected to debut later this year.

As seen in the spy shots, the new Volkswagen Tera is completely undisguised, revealing all the design elements. Up front, it gets a single-slat grille, sweptback headlamps, and a chunky bumper. The side profile of the sub-four-metre SUV receives blacked-out alloy wheels and B-pillars, A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, black roof rails, and plastic wheel arch cladding. Towards the rear, the 2025 Tera SUV features wraparound taillights, LED light bar on the tailgate, integrated spoiler, rear wiper and washer, number plate holder on the rear bumper, and a faux skid plate.

Details surrounding the interior of the upcoming SUV remain unknown at the moment. We expect a feature set which includes ventilated front seats, large touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents, six airbags, ambient lighting, paddle shifters, fully digital instrument console, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Tera could be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI petrol engine, paired with six-speed manual and torque converter automatic units. The power output could stand at 114bhp and 178Nm of torque.
