On 29 July 2026, the CarWale team will be reporting live from Jakarta as the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 gets underway. One of Southeast Asia's biggest automotive events, GIIAS is known for showcasing new production models, concepts, electric vehicles, and technologies that often influence markets beyond Indonesia, including India.
More importantly, several of the cars on display have the potential to make their way to our shores. Models such as the Maruti Suzuki XL7 (the three-row sibling of the XL6), the Toyota Hilux, the updated Hyundai i20, and the Jetour T2, which is expected to be introduced in India by JSW Motor, are among the highlights. We will also be tracking several other products that could eventually find a place in the Indian market.
Apart from India-relevant models, GIIAS 2026 will feature a wide range of vehicles from manufacturers already present in India, including Suzuki, Toyota, BMW, MINI, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, BYD, Nissan, Jeep, Citroën, Renault, VinFast, and MG. There will also be plenty to look forward to from brands that are not in India, such as Mitsubishi, Mazda, Geely, and XPeng, giving enthusiasts a closer look at global products and technologies.
