BMW to enhance production facilities in China

German luxury carmaker BMW has some mega plans to expand production in China. The brand has revealed that its annual production capacity in the country would be as much as 4.5 lakh units, 1.44 lakh units more than the last year’s production figure.

BMW makes cars at two production facilities in China and has invested 1 billion euros to expand production line for new models. Currently they make long-wheelbase version of the 5 Series and are now preparing to produce the X3 crossover. Meanwhile, the second plant is in charge of building long-wheelbase versions of the X1 and the 3 Series, besides the standard 2 Series.

Last year, BMW sold over 5.16 lakh cars in China. These include their own models as well as Rolls Royce and the Mini range. For 2017, the German auto giant is planning to add 14 new and updated vehicles to the line-up.
