BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has finally been introduced in India in two diesel – 320d Sport Line (base variant) and the 320d Luxury Line (mid variant), while petrol is offered as top-spec 330i Luxury Line. The car comes with fresh design upgrades and the thrilling performance numbers that GT’s have always been associated with.
The new 3 Series Gran Turismo measures 4,824mm in length, 1,508mm in height and 1,828mm in width, thereby making it longer by 190mm, taller by 79mm and wider by 17mm as compared to the regular 3 Series sedan. The front gets sharp LED headlamps that blend neatly with the kidney grille, the bumpers get larger air vents and foglamps as standard. The new 3 Series GT sits on 17-inch alloys with 225/55 R17 tyres as standard.
At high speeds the spoiler automatically extends to help generate the necessary downforce. The German automaker has also introduced two new shades for the GT - Arctic Grey and Jatoba Metallic. The rear sports bigger L-shaped LED tail lights.
The diesel variants are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which generates impressive power output figures of 187bhp and 400Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100kmph in about 7.7 seconds. The petrol variant also gets a 2.0-litre engine which generates a thrilling 249bhp of power and 350Nm of torque which allows the car to sprint from 0 – 100kmph in just about 6.1 seconds.
The Sport Line gets black and red combination upholstery, red contrast rings on round instrument gauges, sporty chromo scaling, red contrast stiched steering wheel and basic decorative trim strip in high-gloss black and coral red accentuated strips. To complete the sport quotient, the automaker has also designed the key in black with red decorative strip. The Luxury Line on the other hand offeres an elegant and classic design. It gets aluminium door sill plates, sports leather steering wheel, special ambient light colours and air vents with chrome edging.
The BMW 3 Series GT offers a boot space of about 520 litres which can be easily stretched to 1,600litres, owing to the 40:20:40 split configuration at the back.
