Aston Martin has finally revealed the DBS GT Zagato along with the DB4 GT Zagato continuation as a part of their ultra-exclusive DBZ Centenary Collection. Sold only as a pair for 6 million pound plus local taxes (approx. Rs 53 crore), both the models are limited to just 19 units each.
Based on the DBS Superleggera, the DBS GT Zagato is heavily reworked by the Italian coachbuilder, Zagato. Power comes from the same 5.2-litre turbocharged V12 but the output is increased from 715bhp to 760bhp. But that’s not the talking point of this ultra-rare modern classic.
The DBS GT Zagato is finished in Supernova Red which is exclusively reserved for the 'Centenary Specification', with a contrasting exposed carbon fibre accents. The wheels are done in satin black and gold. Aside from the gloss finish carbon fibre roof and rear diffuser, the most attention-grabbing detail on the car are the Aston Martin badges made up of solid 18-carat gold.
The reworked black anodised front grille is complemented by gold anodised side strakes and centre-lock wheel nuts. And lest we forget, the Zagato’s characteristic double-bubble roof is present as well and it runs to the back of the car replacing the rear windscreen.
Similar to the exterior, the cabin of the DBS Zagato is extravagant, to say the least. There’s the Caithness Spicy Red leather upholstery, a Zagato 'Z' seat quilting and satin-twill exposed carbon fibre on both the paddle shifts and steering wheel. Also, the DBS GT Zagato makes use of the world’s first automotive application of configurable carbon and metal 3D-printed interior finishes. This beautiful central 'saddle' design features a unique parametric, inter-locking form and takes 100 hours to make without including the post-processing done by hands. What’s more, the connoisseurs who’ll own these limited-run units can also personalize their models through Aston’s Q division.
Meanwhile, the other car – the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation – is a track-only car which pays homage to the original DB4 Zagato. The Continuation model matches the 58-year old car but is updated with a new engine which makes 380bhp and is one of the many models Aston Martin plans to build under the DBZ Centenary Collection.
