Arvind Mathew is the new Mahindra Reva CEO; Chetan Maini moves to a bigger role

Mahindra has announced that Chetan Maini will step down as the CEO of Mahindra Reva. Chetan will be replaced by Arvind Mathew, who previously worked as president and managing director of Ford India.

Chetan Maini who founded Reva Electric Car Company that was acquired by Mahindra in 2010 will have a wider role in the Mahindra Group. He will be responsible for incubating new technology ventures and will lead other technology initiatives of the Group.  Chetan will continue to be associated with Mahindra Reva and Formula-E Racing in an advisory capacity.

Arvind Mathew comes with over two decades of experience with Ford Motor Company. He has played a very important role in developing new vehicles and powertrain programs for the Indian arm. His last stint was at Tata Advanced Materials as CEO. Chetan and Arvind both will take on their new roles from May 1, 2015.

“Chetan Maini has been synonymous with electric vehicle technology and his vision and expertise has been instrumental in pioneering innovations in this space. Chetan is globally recognised for this achievement and I wish to place on record our sincere appreciation for his immense contribution to electric vehicles evolution. While welcoming Arvind to the Mahindra family, I am sure he will take Mahindra Reva to newer heights with his diverse international exposure, technical background and proven ability to drive innovation and growth," said Pawan Goenka, executive director, Mahindra.
