All-new Ford Figo launched at Rs 4.29 lakh

Little over a month after introducing the Figo Aspire compact sedan, Ford India has now launched its hatchback equivalent in the form of the all-new Figo. With prices starting at Rs 4.29 lakh for the entry-level petrol version, going up to Rs 7.40 lakh for the top-spec diesel version, the much improved Figo is now on sale in the Indian market.

This new model shares a majority of its design cues with the Figo Aspire and it’s only past the rear doors where you will notice the absence of the latter’s stubby boot. Like the compact sedan, the Figo hatchback makes its presence felt through its Aston Martin-like grille and stylish swept-back headlights. Meanwhile, the rear also features wraparound effect for the tail lamps and gets a muscular bumper.

Inside, the cabin design is from the Figo Aspire although in here, Ford India has opted for the sportier looking all-black theme over the dual-tone black-and-beige treatment seen in the Figo Aspire. Standard features on top-spec versions include a multifunction three-spoke steering wheel with silver accents, Ford’s SYNC multimedia system with a display unit, climate control, electrically foldable mirrors and lots more.

Under the hood, the Figo hatchback is available with either a 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre petrol or a more powerful 1.5-litre petrol unit. The diesel models will be powered by a 1.5-litre TDCi engine that pushes out 100bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. The petrol models, on the other hand, will get two engine options: a 1.2-litre TiVCT engine with 88bhp and 112Nm and a 1.5-litre TiVCT unit with 112bhp and 136Nm. While the 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.2-litre petrol powered models come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5-litre petrol-powered Figo comes with Ford’s 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

All-new Ford Figo

The all-new Figo hatchback is now on sale in the Indian market and will also be exported to 50 markets. It comes with driver side airbag as standard across the range and is the only hatchback in India to be offered with six airbags with the top-of-the-line variant. It competes with other small hatchbacks such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.
