2017 JK Tyre – FMSCI National Racing Championship to begin this weekend

The 20th edition of the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship begins this weekend at the Kari Motor Speedway. To spice up the action this year, JK Tyre has introduced a new two-wheeler category for the first time with the Suzuki Gixxer Cup. The Euro JK 17 category which features FB02 formula cars, will continue to be the main attraction.

In the Euro JK 17 category, defending champion Anindith Reddy will be starting as an early favorite. This year, two popular international racers - Paolo Ippolito from Italy and Ricky Capo from Australia will be competing against the top driver’s in the country. Seventeen-year-old Mira Erda from Vadodara, will be the first female driver to compete in the Euro JK 17 category. The Suzuki Gixxer Cup will see 30 young bikers, including two women. The organiser claims that the bikers have been carefully selected after four different selection rounds across the country - Bengaluru in the South, Aizawl in the East, Pune in the West and the National Capital Region in the North.

The Gixxer Cup will also provide opportunity to 15 young racers, which includes eight from Aizawl in the Rookie category (12-16 years). This will help the participant to make his/her mark and earn a ticket to represent India at the Red Bull Rookie Cup – Road to MotoGP in Spain. JKNRC’s other popular category, the LGB4, will see as many as 18 racers, which includes two Sri Lankan racers, Raghul Rangasamy from Chennai and Sneha Sharma from Mumbai. Delhi’s Rohit Khanna is expected to be front-runner along with the other four participants.
