Definitely the most stylish and incredible SUV at this price point. Rubbishing claims that its 'not a true Pajero' all parts and engine is made in Japan and only assembly is done in Chennai. Interiors are near perfection with leather seating, excellent lamps for bright light, car charger with independant laptop charger, illuminated key socket (looks cool), cup holders, toolbox embedded in back door (just in case) with inclusion of altimeter, barometer, inclinometer and outside temperature reading gadgets. Overall interiors compared to old Pajero are many leaps ahead and more than what u need really.

Exteriors are classy and it has deadly road presence. Off-road capability doesnt even need to be compared or mentioned so ill skip that one.

Overall an incredible SUV that is a status symbol and has the best ride and handling coz the car is heavy (almost 3000 kg) and sticks to the road giving an incredibly comfortably ride eating bumps and potholes. It can easily be handled because of the powerful 2.8 liter engine and gives an awesome feeling while taking a turn. The only thing is at a price of 23 lacs plus interest (if taken on installment) its definitely not a poor mans car but definitely worth the extra money if u can afford it for the experience and reliability of a Pajero.

Most reliable diesel engine.True off-roadability means handling any kind of bad roads & terrain. No Lcd screen or flying ability

      Exterior

Outdated model (II Generation 1992 to 1999 model). Discontinued in rest of the world. Sold in India for over Rs.21 Lakhs. Tyre - 15 inch, Latest generation (Montero) comes with 17 inch tyre. Tail lamp does not function, kept only for jewel effect, Front Grill : Old type with Mitsubishi Red Badge.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Everything is outdated, switches and knobs, Awkward Steering wheel without Mitsubishi badge at the center, Dashboard is boring. Comfort is okay but not as comfy as Tata Safari.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

One valid reason not to buy this car :  It has outdated engine. Modern engines are CRDI engine. It still uses outdated Fuel Injection pump diesel engine which emits more carbon Dioxide. This will be phased out soon if emission norms became stricter in India. High Fuel consumption - avg. only 8 KMPL - not good for the Planet.

      Ride Quality & Handling

In spite of the above drawbacks I really appreciate it's ride, handling & off road performance.  Max. Top speed only 150 KMPH.

      Final Words

Please don't buy this model. I think you will not waste your money in buying this decade old old school model ( Daddy's SUV). Go for the latest Toyota Fortuner or Tata Safari 4X4 VX or wait for yet to be launched Tata Aria and New facelifted Tata Safari.

      Areas of improvement

My sincere request to HM-Mitsubishi. Please change this model. Don't fool Indian customers.

Completely worth the money... drive it once before you buy any SUV in India today ! Stable like a horse, powerful like monster, speeds up to 140 kmph easily on 'Indian highways' yet remains in total control... it gives someone who likes driving an SUV more a feel of being with a mistress than being with his wife :) Practical from inside and outside, no compromise on the Pajero performance or safety features which are matched in India only by the SUVs a class above. Though fuel wise it's between 8 - 10 in city it's up to 11 on highways if you're a seasoned highway driver. Engine has the roar one expects from an SUV, but the cabin is excellently silent with a dual control A/C for front and back. The seats are huge, ergonomic and the ride's comfy. The car's made for off-roading as outstandingly well as it maneuvers through city roads like a smaller vehicle. There's a lot of 'sense' visible in all features like the maximum view for the driver and is as such a performance vehicle... As I live in Europe and this stallion joined our family stable last year in India, I've driven it only for a few hundred kilometers now. However I have driven SUVs on better roads here in France, Germany, but the way the new Pajero handles Indian roads, I think it needs better advertising and it'll outsell any other SUV in India today. Don't want to over-say things... I like many other cars/companies as much... but for selecting an SUV in India today... I suggest you go test drive this baby... off road, on a typical terrain if possible and then go test drive an Endeavour or CRV or whichever SUV you're planning to buy, on the same terrain... you'll know the difference for yourself !Feels like handling a mistress, full control, very powerful, making a statement, purposeful featuresCould've given a few more features for less, but we always expect more...

Exterior The car looks very good from outside. It has got real heavy i mean musculine and tough looks, which we won't get in any of its rivals. Since its front bumpers are not that much big in length, its tyres are more visible when the car is viewed from front which just adds to its looks. If  you are standing on the roadside and see the car coming towards u, u won't feel that an suv is nearing u, u will feel as if a lion is coming near u! The looks of this incredible 4x4 are worth giving that statement. Awesome 4wd system, front ground clearance of 205 cm, climbing ability of 35 degrees and can wade thru 600 mm of water, what else u need!.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) On the comfort front, the Pajero is found to be decently packed. This is a reasonably comfortable vehicle mated to an apt front and rear suspension system that keeps the passengers relaxed and comfortable. The Pajero SFX also carries comfort enhancement sphere like tilt adjustable power steering, front and rear power windows, height adjustable front seats with lumbar support, individual air-con vents for all rows to maintain a uniform cabin temperature and a standard CD player with front and rear speakers and a handy remote control.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 2.8 liter intercooled diesel engine. With 118.6PS to fall back on  and a torque of 292Nm at 2000rpm, the engine is potent and can generate great power. This is a low-revving engine however, which along with the 5-speed manual transmission makes for effortless cruising within the city and on the highway. and of course suv's are more effficient in v6 engine rather than v4

      Ride Quality & Handling AWESOME.

      Final Words NA.

Areas of improvement Mitsubishi_ just leave that pickup styled pajero sport and relaunch pajero sfx with the following changes, I tell u it will leave behind its rivals in all areas which it manages now also but with the changes, it will be effortless.

Mitsubishi should keep the same design yet replace/remove few things.

I mean the lights from the rear bumper, and body coloured hollow headrests. Instead the seat stichings can be given in body colour and (when viewed from side)  the steepness in the front winscreen's design should be reduced to give it a more sportier look.

There should not be too much gap between the top part of windows and the roof, which is an old way of designing the roof.

Well Mitsubushi should give an even more powerful and efficient engine.

Hmm interiors are nice but a digital touch should be given. Like remove the rotary a/c controls and the multimeter which is on top of the center console ang put them in digital form.

Replace the traditional cd player with a multimedia sreen. But there will be problem with the use of the sreen, so put the srceen on top and the a/c buttons in the bottom.

The top speed should be atleast 200 km/h. Of course every time wwe may not go upto that speed but stil. you know.

See it to feel itLess efficient

      Areas of improvement

NEED A SUN ROOF . ALSO ON BREAKING NOT SO GOOD ON TOP SPEED . The Mistubishi Pajero has everything to make you a proude owner of a true indian off roder . The new Pajero has to be comes with a choice of either a petrol or diesel engine. The Pajero does 0-60 kmph in an impressive 6 seconds and the 0-100 kmph in 15 seconds. The braking and control of this vehicle is not good as it goes from 100 kmph.also it doesn't cross the meter of 160kmph. it should comes with side air bags.

Exterior Exeterior suits for the brand "Pajero" which means the road king.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is fine but will look more stylish with digital metres.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Perfomance is superb on highways.. but in city u need to b extra careful while driving pajero because pajero is not meant for cities with heavy traffic as the engine deserves high speed and wide roads.

Ride Quality & Handling Feels like I m flying.

Final Words Best SUV in this class. worth spending money.

Areas of improvement Interior needs to be improved and few extra features need to b addede to compete with other SUVs in this class. Like cruise control, dash board, digital metres, stereo system, and cup holders needed for driver and passenger also in the front too. Body color is ok. Hedlights wud b perfect if improved to zenon lights as other SUVs like range-rovers already use it and makes diffrence and show their presence in the roads at night.

Robust machine which leaves all other vehicles far behind on the road. high pwr engne wid gud cntrlInterior needs to b improved cruise control

The Mistubishi Pajero has everything to make a statement. The new Pajero has been put through a tough design process that has come out with some good results. It has a very masculine and majestic presence while on the move or at rest. It looks aggressive, which in one way is elegant, and is supported by angled headlamps and a bumper with neatly rounded off edges. It definitely makes a very powerful visual statement and it the most advanced model from its manufacturer. The Pajero comes with a choice of either a petrol or diesel engine. The 5-speed manual gearbox is coupled to a four wheel drive that kicks dust in your fellow driver’s face, be it on the tarmac or off-road. It gives at immense 153 BHP at 3200 rpm that lets you burn rubber. This is one heavy beast that gives a consistent performance regardless of the driving conditions.

The Pajero does 0-60 kmph in an impressive 5.38 seconds and the 0-100 kmph in 13.48 seconds. The braking and control of this vehicle is quite good as it goes from 100 kmph to a virtual halt in 4.19 seconds. And for all those rally driver wannabes, this machine does a maximum of 185 kmph. They sure don’t come any better than this. And safety is one thing that Mitsubishi doesn’t compromise on, either. Dual air bags, side air bags, improvised crash zones – to name a few. And the suspension goes well, too, for this bulky beast. Race, stop, race, stop, race, stop, jump over bump, hit the dip, ace again and you wouldn’t know the difference. The interiors are big and bigger and the driver environment is worth nothing. Bucket seats complemented with large thick steering wheel makes you drool over this machine.

The rear seats accommodate three and the air conditioner is great and for the rear passengers, we have additional controls and vents. However, the mileage factor may put off a few prospective buyers. It gives over 8.7 kmpl and with a fuel tank of 90 litres, you can expect an average of just under 800 km. But it is quite mandatory for such large vehicles to give such a mileage considering its large tyres, size and weight. This vehicle definitely imposes the very person you are. But if you think that this babe comes with a desi price tag, think again; you’d have to dish out Rs. 34,00,000 to own this beaut. However, when style matters, nothing else does. People….on your marks, set, go...
