CarWale Track Day 2019: Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster

    5 months ago  by

At the last track day, we had the Mercedes-AMG GT R, famous for its world record of being the fastest rear-wheel-drive car around the famous Nurburgring circuit. This year we had its more fashionable sibling - the GT Roadster. A convertible with plenty of oomph, it sure is a real eye-catcher. But, apart from its flamboyance, is it also capable of hitting the track with a blistering performance? We found out.

    2018 CarWale Track Day: Mercedes-AMG GT R

    1 year ago  by

The beast from Green Hell. It’s an extremely catchy line. And AMG’s justification for that is that this Mercedes-AMG GT R was developed at the Nordschleife a.k.a Green Hell.

Jaguar F-Type R vs Mercedes AMG GT S

    3 years ago  by

This is community service. It has to be. We are, after all, making every onlooker point and gape with awe; getting every kid and every other young woman screaming up and down with joy and are drawing envious stares from passing motorists. Now, I agree the latter might not seem very positive but here’s the thing – behind that envy, is a dream, a dream to be ‘us’ some day.

Now by ‘us’ I don’t mean motoring journalists – though this too is a dream job – but to be so successful, so rich and so fit that one can actually buy and drive one of these, regularly. And ‘these’ are our power celebrities. Two cars that have managed to draw us out of our beds and away from a beer filled afternoon on what was supposed to be a no-work Saturday.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S First Drive Review

    3 years ago  by

This is the most focused Mercedes-Benz I have ever driven. Right from its racy exterior, to the first time you crank up the handmade turbocharged engine, it is clear that the AMG GT S is built for a singular purpose, to propel you towards the horizon before the blink of an eyelid.

Replacement to the mighty SLS, the GT is not only inspired by styling from its larger predecessor it also has the same front-engine-rear-gearbox layout. Where the SLS had a more in your face exterior, its successor carries a more rounded appearance and it looks much more compact and agile. When viewed in profile the long bonnet, old race car-like glasshouse and the rounded boot section with a large overhang looks very familiar. Like the SLS, you can’t make dramatic entrances at parties though as the Gull-wing doors are replaced by conventional ones. This has also helped the AMG division keep the centre of gravity down.
