Buying Experience - The Mercedes way of owning inventory and almost stripping pricing ownership from the dealership is definitely less stressful for a buyer. BMW should also switch to this model. The delivery experience was excellent. Driving Experience - This was not my first choice from a driving experience (as compared to BMW X5). The steering is too light and there is some body roll. But what won was the supreme comfort in the backseat. Leather seats are plush with exquisite natural wood trim bits. MB infotainment software is ok-ish. What I was disappointed with is the cabin rattling noise that started within a month. I am told that cars are kept in open lots prior to delivery and the heat cases some rubber beadings to fail. I could not digest this explanation after having paid big bucks to buy a top-end Merc. This is where I feel BMW's build quality is overall somewhat better, be it the robustness of the car or the paint finish. 4. Service and Maintenance - The local dealership has been very responsive so far, but they take a very long time for turnaround. And i am very nervous about leaving behind a brand new car in a garage for more than a day. 5. Pros and Cons - If you want superlative driving dynamics in a mid-size/large SUV, go for the BMW X5. But if you want a reasonable driving experience combined with killer mileage and supreme backseat comfort, the GLE is the one. I personally would go for the 450d for its torque and efficiency, every single time!
