The Versa is a good choice. My Versa DX2 is running well and proving to be a utilitarian cut above a typical small or mid-size car. It is a class vehicle for city use – very good gear ratios. The engine has very good power, even with big load and the AC is very good. However, its mileage is a bit lower and the ‘look’ is unimpressive – in fact, a bit ‘blunt’. Still, Versa has quite a few ‘scores’ over others like being a ‘true family car with higher seating capacity’, comfortable spacing and the ‘secured’ feeling of a tall & wide, sturdy vehicle. I really wonder why this car is so uncommon to see on road!
Versa is an ideal vehicle to accommodate at least 8 persons. The vehicle appears big. However, it is just a few inches longer than a Zen or a ‘B’ segment car. It is big from inside and small from outside. The turning radius is very small. Driving and parking in traffic is not difficult. It is a car, it is a MUV. In all respects, it is great.
Great engine, pick-up & AC, good gear ratios, very comfortable spacing, easy to drive and manage.Sub-average suspension, bit bumpy ride, average mileage.Exterior/Styles

The Maruti Versa is truly a versatile automobile. It has all that a typical Indian family needs:- Spacious, Value for money, Easy handling & parking, Twin A/C Blowers for the Indian summers, etc. In fact it is a wonder that we don't see too many Versa's on the road. One negative for potential buyers is the Van-like shape that does not appeal to many people. Looks aside the Versa is a great buy and at the current price it is unbeatable value. The often quoted "poor milage" is actually not true as the Versa does return 10 KMs in City driving and that is quite on par with other cars such as the Esteem, Ikon, Aveo, Optra, etc. So go ahead and take the plunge, invest in a Versa - your family will love it. I believe the Versa advertisement, "the joy of traveling together". :-)

A few incidents to testify the greatness of this car:
1.05 June 2005 - heavy rain - eleven guests with full luggage in tow arrive for a wedding - Qualis can just accommodate the luggage inside - eleven guests transported in Versa in A/C comfort to the "Mandap" - no signs of strain on the vehicle
2. Surat-Dumas Road - 1.5 to 2ft water at several points during 2006 monsoon - average cars fail to clear the puddles - Versa does it effortlessly
3.Surat floods 2006 - car parked in 2 ft water - nothing happens to the car except a stuck clutch plate - freed without removing th gear box.
The overall comfort this car offers is as much as a Scorpio but at roughly 60% of the cost.Do not also forget that this is Japanese technology.
With such low sales, the car continues to be on Maruti's list of vehicles..so do not worry about it being phased out.The Zen was a very good seller but yet was stopped.Same with the old Santro.
One small tip for those complaining about the mileage - get the throttle body serviced every 15000 kms. Also check the idle rpm of the car at normal operating engine temperature with A/C and lights off - should be in the region of 800-900.

I have taken about 2 yrs to upgrade from 800 to my next car, Versa DX2. I have gone through every site and comments made by every users of every car, also gone through all the car magazines available in the newsstand. I found one thing, there are very few comments on this car and few people care about this car.
My first criteria was space, second, price limit of five lacks, and third, reliability (Service, maintenance, consumption). When I put all these together, I always found, the search ends with either Wagon-R or Swift. But I was looking for more space, where my wife, mother and my child can sleep well, while touring from Navi Mumbai to
However, I was delighted first time when I drove Versa DX. It was a nice experience. For people like me who keeps an eye on RPM not on the Speedo, it is like a tiger on the road. Very smooth (Maruti does provide refinement of engine), and strong on the road. It keeps her wheels steady at very high speed.
I have taken a short trip of 600 km (Vashi to Shirdi via Chakan and back via
I am planning for a 1500 kms trip, soon after the first servicing and will let you the details. Only one thing, which could have been better, is the headlamp. On high ways with std. light, you may find trouble, if not trained to drive on highways at night. I am trying to find out a solution without tampering the std electrical system in place.
In one line, do not compare this car with Innova or Tavera or even Sumo, this is a car different from any specification, but very useful if you know your usage. This is not Swift, so do not race, this is not Safari, so do not surface, this is a car like your old Zen or new Wagon-R with more space inside (40%), taking only 10% more space out side (at parking).

This is excellent car. I have it for last 5 years (DX2). Driven for about 43000 Kms. Atleast 28 trips from Mumbai - Goa and back. As rightly said...this car can't be compared with any other car in India. With this price and what it offers...just above all other cars. Only thing what I observed dislike the review with I never got average above 13km/Lit with or without AC in on highways in my 43000kms of driving of Versa DX2.
Even family likes it soo much that today we have booked another Versa DX2 BSIII.
My review on my 1st Versa is published by Maruti on it's Review Page by customers for Versa. That has got all the details of my experince on this car.
Excellent Vehicle for a family above 5 in all respectlow average
