Hi all, Took two test drives of the Ritz before finally settling in on booking the Vxi today...due to the waiting delivery would be only on dassera...end of september. The car is extremely smooth and has a peppy feel to it (thanks to the 85 bhps)...very roomy feel and good leg room at the rear too...pick up is good though it really gets going in 3rd... dashboard is contemporary and chic...esp the positioning of the gear...Interiors are neat and give a warm feel to the dashboard.. Very quiet engine cant even be heard when ignition is turned on...handling is decent and little body roll but only on sharp turns taken a high speeds.. The power steering is so calibrated that is feels lighter to touch at the lower gears and plateaus out on gears 4 and 5...helps in controlling the car better... Due to the high head room the car gives a very roomy and large feel, thereby cutting out the air of claustrophobia other cars in this segment might have...also, the cooling of the AC is faster to the rear seats precisely for the same reason... will know more only on delivery and after 1st servicing...but overall its a good car... Finally got delivery of the car on the 11th of October. It is indeed an amazing piece of machinery, though still getting used to the vehicle...amazing drivability...not encountered any body roll so far in spite of the tall boy design...will know of the average when i go in for a 2nd tank refill... Have got a Panasonic deck with USB, iPod, and bluetooth capability, and installed 2 JBL component speakers (front door) and 2 oblong JBL speakers on the rear tray..with an amplifier...did not go in for a woofer as it would take up boot space... I dont believe this!!! I used up 3/4th of my petrol tank in the first few days running. refilled 27 litres of petrol. Had run 445 kms in the car, the calculation gives me an astounding average of 16!!! Unbelievable....had been to pune, so half the kms run were on the highway...

I was awaited for this car from longtime. But car do not impressed me. Its tallboy design not looking good in shape. There is no any extra features inside the car. I would prefer Wagon R , If company launch with E IV and some changes.

Instrumental panel of the car is nano. boot space is small . This car is better driving experience for  people only  6 ft. & above. Its deshboard is too long , therefore its not adviseble for small height people.

      Swift is better than Ritz.

This is my personal opinion. Please also read another reviews.

its E IV fuel effiecient engine. Style is not goodInteriors is overall average.

I have been a Proud owner of my New Baby: Ritz!
Also being an owner of SWIFT from past 4 Years. So can say: Now M 'RITZING SWIFTLY'..!

Now about the Considerations I had while i took a new car:
RITZ ZXI & NEW SWIFT ZXI BSIV:

      Discussion About RITZ:
      Pros:
ZXI a high VFM (forget about Auto Climate Control as you not going to spend your life in the Car..! :P)
Aerodynamically Built Exteriors Inspired from European Cars ( people in INDIA not appreciating because they are like a flock of sheep: one takes and other follows and mostly dont welcome a change)
Jewel of Engine because its almost silent
Stability at approx 165 kmph. ( swift gets a feeling of sailing boat after 150 kmph)
Interiors are best in class Rear Leg space even more than Swift and Ofcourse Beat
Tall Body Design + High Seats give an Innova Experience the only in class not even swift
Boot Space: 240 litres.. kinda 8 litres more than swift but after folding the rear seats in Ritz boot space= 540 litres but in swift even after folding boot space= 415 litres

      Cons:
      Cup holders
Rear visibility Rear sensors a must after market buy in congested areas

Discussion about New Swift BS IV:
      Pros:
Design Admired Mostly ( though when i took people hated the frog shaped look of it atleast for 1.5 years and during that time got an 30k discount on buyin it.. lolzz)
It has new Engine which is of Ritz ( so i feel not to comment.. lolzz)
      Cons:
Swift ZXI: Evry thing in Ritz + Auto Climate Control AC= 50k extra bucks certainly not VFM
Rear leg space even less than ritz also the low heighted rear seats give a definate claustrophobic effect ( rear seats high in  Ritz..)
      Lack of overall quality
      Very Common
Power and Torque in New Swift have been lessend

      Verdict:
Cheaper than its own Swift and priced competitively with the rest of the segment, this car blends a super combination of stellar engines with greater space, comfort and practicality, offering great value..!

Overall: A Mr.Practical and Family Car..!
      Happy Ritzing to ALL!

Aerodynamic Exteriors, Luxurious Roomy Interiors ( INNOVA feeling), Engine a Jewel, ZXI a high VFMRear View Visibility ( so 3 Stars to exterior) , No cup Holders.

Exterior I liked the exteriors a lot especially the rear looks (subjective to individuals). The tail light cluster looks very good and class apart in night driving. Day times also I feel it is one of the best clusters. Front cluster too is nicely placed. GENUS has rear wiper which improves the look.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Front seats are the best, lot of head room and wind screen gives lot of space for the driver and co-driver. I feel this gives a feel like a MUV/SUV in front seats. Rear seats too has good head room but the knee space is little less if compared to the kind of space we have for head room. Three moderately built people can easily sit.

AC is chilling. I could not go beyond the three pointers in Bangalore weather. I didn't want more cooling :) I never felt that the adjustable steering will be of much use but I realized in the first 600 kms itself that it is a feature I am going to use very frequently in long drives. RPM meter is best placed though it is making the cluster very simple.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is simply awesome, just rev it and you will feel the power. I know that it is more of a family car and not for the enthusiasts but till we are driving in straight line and do not go for cornering or control the speed at curves it will not let you down. But surely at corners there is problem of body roll. Gear box has some problem while changing 2 to 3 but that is may be because it’s new and I am not used to it. Positioning is surely very good, hands fall naturally to the gear knob.

Ride Quality & Handling It’s smooth in town and amazing on highways. Though not very sure about the rear seat comfort on long drive as we didn’t have any one to judge that.

Final Words It’s amazingly powered, beautiful, and spacious and economically best hatch. No doubt about it

Areas of improvement I don’t know if it is possible to improve the stability while cornering with the tallboy design and having soft suspension but that needs a definite improvement.

Rear seats could have bottle holders in door or near the hand breaks. Music system should have Bluetooth and USB, It is need of the hour. You can’t offer just a CD player and AUX in today’s time.

Got a RITZ Vxi for my better half 2 months back. Ihave outlined the reasons for the choice and our experience with the car so far

      MAKING THE CHOICE-

We were looking for a compact car that was easy to manage by the wife mainly for city use and an occasional outstation trip.  Options considered & TD taken were varied across the A+ and B segments- i10, Indica vista, Ritz, Swift, Punto, i20, Fabia  & Jazz

As the expected commute was fairly low (<500km per month) It didnt make sense to consider a diesel

Our budget was around 5L and that immediately put the i20, Fabia & Jazz out of contention though I personally feel the Jazz is a class apart from any hatch presently available and daresay worth the premium it commands.

The Vista though cheapest has evidently very poor quality and frankly TATA relaibility is  suspect considering direct owner feedback and by the sheer probability that the broken down car causing a traffic jam you're stuck in, is an Indica, Indigo or Sumo.

The Punto is a beautiful car and feels solid but the 1.2 engine is too lethargic and not adequate for its weight. Also there are yet issues with FIAT after-sales/service and there has been adverse feedback about poor mileage of the punto as well

The Swift is a proven car but is a 4 + year old design and looks a bit dated now. Also the interior though sporty is a bit too dark & head + leg room at the back is a squeeze.

The i10 was a good option even though it is a smaller car and a segment lower. Its beige + black interiors are really good and 1.2 magna engine is decent. However for some strange reason their showrooms are either poorly staffed or have completely inept or uninterested staff. It took 3 visits to 2 seperate dealerships and a lot of prodding and pushing to get someone to show us the car and get price and availability details. 2 more visits before we get a short test drive (requested not offered) of 1/2 km as there was no fuel in the demo car! Out of patience we had to rule this one out.

Coming to the RITZ --- the car seemed to be tailor made for our requirement---compact yet spacious from inside. Extremely mordern looking yet in a restrained manner. the engine is the new K series and  has a service interval of 1 year/ 10,000km!! Not to mention the excellent sales and service offered by Maruti Suzuki. The overall package really appealed to us and the price was just right....4.65L in thane for the Vxi.  We finalised the deal and got delivery the car in about 2 weeks (dark blue option)

      THE EXPERIENCE SO FAR-

The car is extremely comfortable to drive and be driven about. the interior space at front and back is fantastic and the high headroom makes it seem even more so. Boot space is a bit tight but probably expected in a hatch. The dials are simple yet brilliant with one central large speedo with warning lights around it. Tacho is in a seperate pod on top like a race car. Dashboard is in a textured silver gray finish which is different and goes well with the overall grey scheme interiors. However if you re parital towards beige you may feel short changed. In my opinion grey is more practical and user friendly. AC is good and cools the car reasonably quickly even if its been parked in the sun -- however tinted film would be a good idea due to the large glass cover.

The not so good parts are - the door panels especially the inside handles are not designed too well and seem like an afterthought. Switches for windows and central locking also seem flimsy. The seat upholstery seems to be of very average quality and would probably wear  out in no time so good seat covers would be an added expense

As mentioned earlier the engine is super smooth and has enough pep for green signal bursts. Torque is good for high traffic and gear shifting can be minimised. The suspension is perfect for potholed mumbai roads and speedbrakers. As the car has only done about 1000km --- i have not tried any high speed driving above 100kph but 80-90 seems to be the comfort zone.

Though its too early, the mileage is about 12kmpl in city with ac on all the time and approx 15-16 on highway. will post more on this later with accurate figures.

A note- I had read reports that ritz did not have tubeless tyres and remote boot and fuel cover release ---Would like to confirm that all these are very much provided.

interior space, quirky yet modern looks, excellent engineFit & finish some interior material,

I own a Santro Xing XP and done app 1.25L & gone upto Rohtang Pass with 4-person on board and full of luggage, I m a fan of Santro as it was my first car and performance is amazing. Since last 6-months I was planning to change my car (Hatchback) & started R&D on the cars. I satrted with Swift VDI as my family want either Swift or Dzire, I started taking the TD of all the cars- Indica, Punto, Figo, Polo, I-20, I-10, Beat, Swift and in Sedan Manza, D-zire. But after taking the TD of RITZ-VDI I just blown away. Just 6-month back I used to say that how people buy this car (due to rear looks), now its my time, when I declare in the family that RITZ is amazing they just told me pl. buy whatever car u want but don't go for this. I was confused and started taking feed back from friends & relatives ( maximum of them said the same as my family) and searching Net and spent appx. 50 hrs to check the details, reviews, videos etc. and at last I found a video which helped me to zero down my decision (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuZ7F8T86Y4). Then I asked my son (just completed 1st year in auto. engg.) to take the TD of all the cars and we will make a list of pros & cons for all of them & then we will take the decision, we satrted the process and completed in 5- days, he also came to the same decision. We took 5 TD of RITZ-VDI and ultimately we bought It from Rohan Motors, NOIDA on 17.06.2011 as a birthday(22-June) gift from my family, Thank You for such a lovely gift.

      Installed following -

      Music system - JVC 2-Din (w/o touch), with USB,AUX,CD,FM & Blue Tooth.

Speaker - Boston 6" componant with tweeter on Dash board, speaker  in front doors, for back speaker 12"X6" sony-X plod, fitted in metal tray.

Arm rest (just go for it ritz owners, feel like sitting on sofa)

      Tyre - Michlin 185/70 R14 , XM1 energy (replaced from 165/85 R14 JK)

      Exterior SUBJECTIVE

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good Leg room, head room, u feel like sitting in SUV, very comfortable on bad roads also, fantastic Techometer & Speedometer, stable at high speed (140kmph+), good utility inside pockets.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox  Very Good responsive engine, just take charge of the road as u cross 2000rpm in 2nd gear, touch 140+ just in seconds, FE has be confirmed till date it has done 300kms in 1/2 tank, gearbox is good and positioned very vell.

Ride Quality & Handling Best part is the ride quality and handling, just take a TD on highway.

Final Words If exterior looks suits you and u r looking for a Hatchback just go for it.

Areas of improvement ZDI version to be introduced, DAY NIGHT REAR VIEW MIRROR IS NOT THERE EVEN IT IS NOT AVL IN THE MARKET, MGA DON'T HV VARIETY OF ACCESSORIES.

Following is my experiance of various TD:-

INDICA- Good car with lot of space and FE is good, but "TATA BRAND" and used mainly in Taxi segment, in and out side the city you can be stopped by any of the police man and u hv to answer the simple question "ARE U OWNER OR DRIVER OF THE INDICA, R U USING IT FOR PERSONAL OR AS A TAXI" (personal experience).

PUNTO- Good car with lot of features at a very good price, nice pickup and handling, but fiat... big question mark for spare & future (as JV with TATA).

FIGO- Nice car, good music system, good boot, good features, low on height and performance, quality of interior is not to the mark.

POLO- Fantastic design, good interior, good boot, performance??? TD vehicle was top end and just done 3500Kms, we shocked to see there was no pickup in 2nd & 3rd gear ( compare with RITZ & Swift). A news I want to share, I just asked the price of Alloy for POLO it is 18K  for a ...... pc, 72K for a set of 4. VW you r in India not in Germany.

I-20- Very goog vehicle, every thing is good except Low height, view of the road is problem, high price tag.

SWIFT- Very-Very Good vehicle, but ride quality and handling is not better than ritz, both car on same platform but due to ritz height and interior space the feel is entirly diffrent in ritz.

THANKS FOR READING, WILL WAIT FOR YR COMMENTS.

      Dear All,

It is now more than a year when I purchased The Ritz-VDI, now I can share my 1-year experience about the vehicle.

It is one of the best car in the segment. In last 12-month I hv done 25000+Km & traveled to (From Noida) Dehradun & Rishikesh more than 25 times, Jaipur, Manali, Shimla, Badrinath,Chandigarh etc. A few remarks- From Noida I reach Rishikesh (225Kms) in 4hrs (avr time-5+hrs), Dehradun (260Kms) in 5hrs(avr time-6.5+), Badrinath(550Kms which include 320Kms sharp hills) 11hrs(avr time-16+hrs) etc. (all timings are from our home to final destination, which include all the local traffic).

The speed & pick-up of Ritz is amazing, 140kmph is very smooth and I don't feel riding on such high speed, maximum speed which I could achieve 165kmph. Very smooth.

During the 25000kms, only 1 car over took it (on highway) and that was Laura (at 180kmps).When I travel on highway no car is beyond its reach, after 80kmph it really take charge of the road. Many friends may annoy or feel bad but during the period I raced (which is not a good practice) with Scorpio, Safari, Fortuner, Endevor, innova, xylo, Volvo bus,I-20,vista,Desire,New Swift, Fludic even honda city (not to mentioned santro,wagon-R,indica,beat,I-10,Figo,punto etc) and no one was there even in the cabin rear view mirror, I don't know why all those good vehicle could not over took it (may b there driver not interested). Comfort wise, after traveling 500+kms you don't feel tired. I would say that this car is meant only for Highways, in local traffic I don't feel so comfortable.

My next mission is to go to Varodara-Gujrat (1000kms) from Noida in a single day and next to Leh (Noida-Srinagar-Kargil-Drass-Leh-Manali-Noida).

      I hv posted a Video on You-tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR8hCoUL1jw , pl. check.

      FE-17+, A/C-Damm good.

Problem - Front left & right blank spots, Breaks are not so effective and does not match the kind of speed it takes.

THANKS FOR READING, WILL WAIT FOR YR COMMENTS.

It took me nearly a month's time to decide between swift VDi and Ritz VDi. I have been a fan of swift diesel for last 2 years, but when i finalised to buy my favorite car, Maruti added to my problems by launching Ritz bang on time.

I was really very confused whether to go for Ritz, Getz or swift diesel version.

I test drove all the three cars and found Getz was best among all three in terms of Engine capabilities and performance but low on average.

The decision then was to narrow down the search to Swift or Ritz.

After 5 test drives of both swift and ritz and then decided to go for a latest car as the engine is same in both the cars.

Now i am really happy to buy a latest vehicle with the advantages of swift that i was fan of.

Ritz is a good deal guys, you can go for it blindly.

Just keep in mind that people will tell you that rear shape of ritz is not good, but just to tell you, the same people five years bak use to say that swift is a stone age car.

Moral of the story is, dont go by others words, its your decision, go for the best.

Good and satisfactory performanceFresh interiors, huge dashboard area, dual tone dashboard makes dashboard look great

I bought Ritz Vxi Brick Red in late dec 2009. This is our first car so I don't have much to say against Ritz, although I have driven i10 magna and Vista  Tdi so I'll try to do impartial comparison between them. This forum helped me alot to select my first car. I hope my review will help others too.

      Exterior
Its a matter of opinion when it comes to looks. Before I bought this baby, I always used to comment on its looks. I always thought that the rear was not good.
But after buying Ritz there never has been a moment of regret. Now I find it very stylish and bold. The more I look at it , the more I like it.

It looks great from the front, the head lights have a nice shape and I find it quite attractive. The bonnet is quite high and gives you a feeling of a masculine yet cute car.

Vxi model does not come with the body colored ORVM(outside rear view mirrors) and door handles. The Vdi model however comes with body colored ORVM and door handles. This is not much of an issue though.

Ritz vxi comes with wheel cover which are quite decent. It even comes with fog lamps which I didn't find of  much use as we don't have fogs even in winter.:D

Overall the body looks stylish and appears tall with a strong build.

      Comparison with i10 and Vista.

As far as the looks are concerned, I find Ritz to be more appealing than i10 but externally i10 is just right sized if you are looking for a mid sized hatch back, you will find Ritz to be quite big as compared to i10.

Vista on the other hand is very good looking as far as the exterior looks are concerned. I had almost decided to buy it until I sat inside it. Vista looks good from rear , it has tail lamps nicely placed and improved looks than previous Indica models.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

The interior in VXI is good, the plastic quality is also good. The best thing about Ritz is the space. The driving position is good and gives a feeling of a big car with lot of space. The leg room and head room is sufficient even for a 6 feet tall person.

The back seat can easily accomodate three adults comfortably. I have elder parents and they find it very comfortable in the back seat.

In the front doors, there is provision for water bottle which is good , it comes handy at times. The dash board is equipt with regular odometer, fuel guage and in addition a tachometer which is placed in such a way that it can be easily viewed while driving.

There is a provision for audio system speakers in all four doors which is nice, you need not have to waste your back seat tray for the speakers.

Comparison with i10 and Vista tdi

The interiors of i10 any time beat Ritz, the color combination inside i10 is really good. But i10 does feel small when you have a habit of driving Ritz.

Vista Tdi is however more spacious and more comfortable than i10.  But it has a very poor interior, the plastic quality is very bad. When I test drived one and was trying to get out of the car, my jeans got stuck in a plastic part which was loosely fitted to the seat. The plastic was really cheap.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The Engine is real smooth , at times I had turned on the keys just to find that the engine was already running. As this is my first car I can't comment much on the technical aspects, all I can say is I had no trouble with it in four months.

The gears are bit hard as compared to i10 magna and Vista Tdi. But I was told that they will become smooth with time. It's not that I have trouble operating the gears of Ritz its just that they are not as smooth as i10 and Tdi.

But I always have trouble with the reverse gear in Ritz, it always gets stuck and doesn't latch in the first attempt. I have to let go the cluth a little bit and then it latches. But this a very minor problem. According to service engineers this would get better with time.

The pickup is good and it never lets you down while over taking. The gears are very nicely placed and you would have no trouble operating them .

Since four months I have driven about 1500 Kms, I don't have to drive long distances so I think I am not getting a good fuel economy as said by other Ritz  owner who claim the mileage to be around 16kmpl,

I have checked it consistently to be giving 13kmpl with occasional use of AC. I'll update on this if I go for a long ride. May be this will get better after second servicing.

      Comparison
The gears in i10 are smooth and pickup is also good. The engine power in Ritz and i10 is same , Tdi's gears are smooth but somehow u always seem to feel like you are driving an old taxi. The clutch brake and accelarator of Vista were tight and hard to operate.

      Ride Quality & Handling
The ride quality of Ritz is very good and handling is also very good , even in i10 there wasn't much of a difference.
I always find that while driving on a rough patch of road whenever all windows are closed there is lot of cabin noise, its a kind of vibration. I asked some veteran owners of cars, they said this is not abnormal it occurs in every car. I am not sure about this one.

In vista I thought the shocks absorbers were really good and so was the ride quality.

      Final Words
Final word is that if you go for Ritz you won't regret buying it. Its bold, comfortable, stylish, spacious and fuel efficient.

      Areas of improvement
The reverse gears should be made more smooth to operate.

Spacious, good interiors and comfortableReverse gear gets stuck very often

      Exterior Very stylish and Attractive.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I can't say the interiors are excellent but better than other mid size competitors. Very spacious and comfortable seating for tall guys.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very smooth engine, no roaring noise on load and Pickup.

Ride Quality & Handling Pleasant ride, fun to drive and easy handling.

Neither frustrates you nor put you down. It is 100% cool driving machine. Always owner's pride.

Areas of improvement If Maruti suzuki increases the engine capacity from 1248 cc to 1300 cc then no car will compete with Ritz in this particular segment and youth likes the car more and more. The length of the car needs to be increased by few more centimeters to keep enough luggage. Auto A.C. adjustment is recommended. Hand rests in the front and cup holders required to the back seat. Rear view mirrors with flashing signal are essential. Seat belt, door, and fuel alarm requires voice warning. The clock should display the time, date, temperature and humidity. Additional lighting requires inside the cabin. Back doors need some space for water bottles. Rear wiper is always essential for all versions. I must say that the Ritz will look Royal with these additional features are added.

Appearance, Engine, Legroom, Height, Fuel Economy, Cooling & Lighting.Nothing specific.

Hi friends ! after spending around 2-3 months on various options, doing a lot of research on net, having TDs i finally books my RITZ LXI today in Jaipur. My budget was only around four lac and was to decide only between i10 and A-star. my mind was saying to go for i10 and heart was saying to go for a Maruti product which was A-star for me. I loved the looks of A-star. and was impressed with FE of Astar. (My daily driving will be around 25km daily) I took two test drives of A-star and I was satisfied with it but there was concern in my mind regarding space. I have family of 4 me, wife, and two daughters of 10 & 8. My kids were in love with looks of A-star but my wife was not happy of it. She used to say that the look from front seat is not good in A-star because of dashboard. There was concerns in my mind also regarding the space in rear and very negligible boot. I read here on reviews that travelling at rear in A-star is horrible. Regarding i10 i was planning to buy i10 1.2 megna. I like that car in size in compression to A-star but i read a lot of complaints regarding i10 like the Electronic Power Steering of i10 has some problems and ASS of Hyundai is good but very costly. So many of my friends suggested to go for only a Maruti product. Today I went to showroom for booking of A-star VXI but before booking I decided to take a TD again. So I went for TD of A-star with the sales guy and I was satisfied with it. But after TD of A-star I decided to go for a TD of RITZ LXI too. The TD of RITZ changed my decision in minutes. The on road cost of A-star VXI here in Jaipur is 4.11 lac where as cost of RITZ LXI is 4.45 lac. so it was the matter of paying around 35k extra but the difference in product is amazing. I found RITZ more roomy both on front and rear seat. The boot is very large, sufficient for two big suitcases. The driving position is amazing. Gear shift is so smooth. the engine is very efficient. even I could take the car direct in 3rd gear with full AC. The engine is noiseless. when car on red lights u cant not guess the engine is off or on. there is no vibration in in side. and when u drive the car u feel like u r riding the road. It gives feel like a SUV. So it was a matter for me of only 35k extra but the reward was amazing. So i booked RITZ LXI and will take delivery after 3 days. When I came home and told my family that for what I went and what i did they all got surprised but that is my style !!!! The only problem is that Maruti guys are not offering any discount on this car and not even any free accessory. but what can be done !!?? So I will keep u posting the further developments.superb driving experience, efficient engine, speciousrear look, no discounts, not too many standard accessaries in LXI
