2015 Mahindra XUV500

I bought the w4 model when it was just newly launched. Had an average experience while buying it from Silver jubilee Showroom in MG Road Pune but it was more because of salesperson rather than the showroom. After talking to his seniors it was sorted out. The overall delivery experience was good and it was delivered after a number of follow-up calls and some last-minute payment hassles. I have owned the vehicle since April 2016 and have driven almost 35k kms. Overall a good experience. Interior quality could be much improved specifically the plastics that are used inside. Citywide mileage I get is around 11.5 to 12 km/l with HP turbojet diesel. Car is appropriately powered and mileage is good enough for a vehicle of this size. In this run so far in terms of maintenance I have faced is Battery issues battery (Stock Exide) 3 years 8 months duration battery stopped letting the vehicle switching to Start/Stop mode due to less voltage and a couple of cranks fail during the start. Amaron would have been a much better choice for batteries. Another issue I faced is related to clutch plates (got it replaced on around 33k kms) and it cost me around 20k INR. Looks and performance of the car is quite adequate. One of the best looking SUVs with cheetah styling and good performance overall. Never felt the lack of power in normal riding conditions. I feel a bit less in control (compared to my previous car Skoda 1.4 Fabia) on high speeds due to obvious logical reasons. Wouldn't recommend diving it over 120 km/h speed. That is the most comfortable speed (upper limit) I felt on the expressway(Pune-Mum). Pros include * Suits the budget if you want a good looking specious Suv which is adequate in performance. * maintenance is cheaper as compared to my previous White Elephant :) * city presence, looks, space, adequate ride quality. Cons include Interiors not good enough for my liking but aftermarket seat covers do the trick Some niggles and rattles
