About the ReviewerPurchase NewDriven ForUnder 500 km162 - 1 month ago | RamanaMy search for the ideal SUV finally came to an end when I test-drove the Mahindra XEV 9E in January 2026. For nearly one and a half years, I had been researching and evaluating various vehicles before finding one that met my expectations. The test drive convinced me that this was the vehicle I had been looking for, and I booked my Mahindra XEV 9E on January 28, 2026. I received delivery of my dream car in the last week of February 2026. Naturally, I was thrilled and extremely proud of my purchase. However, due to my busy professional schedule, I could not enjoy the vehicle as much as I had hoped. Even after several months of ownership, I had driven only about 2,000 kilometres. In May 2026, I finally planned a family road trip with my XEV 9E. A few days before the trip, I had to travel to Kondapur, Hyderabad. While driving at a modest speed of approximately 20 km/h on a reasonably good road, I suddenly noticed a rapid drop in the rear tyre pressure. Before I could fully understand what was happening, the vehicle came to a complete halt. The situation was stressful, especially in the peak summer heat. With the assistance of a nearby tyre shop owner, I replaced the damaged tyre with the spare wheel. Upon inspection, I was shocked to discover a crack of nearly two inches in the middle of a tyre. Since I had no idea how such damage could occur under normal driving conditions, I immediately took the vehicle to a Mahindra service center. Unfortunately, my experience there was disappointing. The service manager initially responded in a rude and dismissive manner, suggesting that the damage might have been caused intentionally or due to my negligence. I found this assumption unreasonable. Why would anyone spend nearly ₹30 lakh on a new vehicle only to intentionally damage it and visit a service center? The excitement and pride I felt about owning the XEV 9E quickly began to fade. Eventually, the service center agreed to send the tyre to the manufacturer for inspection. The process took nearly a week, after which the manufacturer reported that there was no manufacturing defect in the tyre. At the time of purchase, I had opted for comprehensive insurance through Mahindra. Since electric vehicles involve expensive components and repairs, I wanted complete peace of mind. I even included tyre insurance by paying an additional premium of approximately ₹4,000. However, when the insurance process began, I was informed that I would need to pay nearly ₹20,000 for tyre replacement. What puzzled me was that the same tyre appeared to be available online for around ₹12,000. I am still trying to understand why the replacement cost increases so significantly when insurance is involved. Are customers being protected by insurance, or is the insurance system primarily protecting itself? I would appreciate insights from insurance experts regarding the difference in pricing, excluding GST considerations. My previous vehicle was a Maruti Ritz, which I owned and maintained for nearly 15 years. Remarkably, I experienced my first tyre puncture only after two years of ownership. Throughout that period, I consistently used MRF tyres and had complete confidence in their quality and reliability. Unfortunately, my experience with the tyres fitted on the XEV 9E has shaken that confidence. The tyre failure occurred at just 20 km/h on a city road. I consider myself fortunate that the incident did not occur during a family trip or at highway speeds, where the consequences could have been far more serious. During my discussions with other vehicle owners and tyre professionals, I came across multiple concerns related to certain MRF R18 tyre variants. While I am not qualified to comment on the technical reasons, this experience has certainly affected my trust in the product. More importantly, it has left my family anxious and concerned about safety. I upgraded from a ₹6 lakh vehicle that served me faithfully for 15 years, expecting greater comfort, reliability, and safety from a ₹30 lakh premium electric SUV. Today, I find myself questioning whether this vehicle will inspire the same long-term confidence. I believe Mahindra should proactively evaluate the performance and reliability of the tyres supplied with its vehicles. Customer feedback from service centers, warranty claims, and discarded tyre records could provide valuable insights into recurring issues. Such analysis would help identify patterns and improve customer safety and satisfaction. My intention is not to criticize for the sake of criticism, but to share a genuine ownership experience and encourage improvements that benefit all customers. My Ownership Ratings (Based on 2,400 km of Driving) • Mahindra XEV 9E: ★★★★★ (5/5) • Mahindra Sales Team: ★★★★☆ (4/5) • Mahindra Service Team: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) o Service managers need better customer empathy and communication skills. o Tyre replacement took nearly two weeks. • Mahindra Insurance: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) o Slow response and lack of clarity during claim processing. • MRF Tyres: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) o A disappointing experience that significantly impacted my confidence in the product. Despite this unfortunate incident, I continue to appreciate the vehicle's design, technology, comfort, and driving experience. My hope is that Mahindra and its partners will address such concerns proactively so that customers can enjoy the ownership experience with complete peace of mind.Rating Parameters(Out of 5)5

It comes with all that you need and safety, too, which is most important. If you are planning to buy a Born Electric vehicle, then go for it. About the ReviewerPurchase Not PurchasedDriven ForDid a short drive131 - 2 months ago | KrishI own a Tesla Y overseas, hence this review is comparing that. I also drove 50k kms in electric vehicles so far. Mahindra has put a good effort into making this vehicle's pros and cons: Pros: Excellent pickup comparable to Tesla. Good features close match to a Premium Car worth more than 50 lacs. Very good road presence. Very good shockers, but can be uncomfortable for 5+2 on long drives due to subtle sway movements sideways, but for 5, it's ok with the reclining middle seat. Excellent size Frunk Good Autopilot ahead of all other brands, but way behind Tesla. Cons: Range calculations are very bad, no sync between the mobile and car range. Dolby Sound System is good, but can be improved. The mobile app hardly works and takes a lot of time to sync with the car. Very little rear boot space with last seats open. Headlights could have more lumens; another 15% would be nice. UI & UX on screen could be improved.Rating Parameters(Out of 5)5

About the ReviewerPurchase NewDriven ForOver 500 km111 - 5 months ago | SreerajA brief drive in the Mahindra XEV 9S immediately highlights its focus on refinement and effortless mobility. The electric drivetrain responds smoothly to throttle inputs, delivering instant torque in a controlled and progressive manner. City driving feels stress-free, with quick acceleration available whenever needed, yet without any harshness or surge. The cabin remains notably quiet, even as speeds build up, creating a calm and premium driving environment. Wind and road noise are well managed, allowing occupants to enjoy a composed and relaxed ride. The elevated driving position offers clear visibility all around, enhancing confidence in traffic and on open roads. Ride quality leans toward comfort, with the suspension absorbing rough patches and uneven surfaces effectively. Larger bumps are handled with maturity, though mild body movement can be felt over continuous undulations at higher speeds — a trade-off that favours plushness over sporty firmness. Steering is light and predictable, making the SUV easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces while remaining stable on highways. Braking performance feels reassuring and progressive, contributing to a secure overall driving feel. Overall Impression The XEV 9S delivers a polished and comfort-oriented driving experience, blending silent electric performance with smooth ride quality and everyday practicality. It is clearly tuned for relaxed urban commuting and composed highway cruising rather than aggressive driving — an appealing proposition for buyers seeking refinement in an electric SUVRating Parameters(Out of 5)4

About the ReviewerPurchase NewDriven ForOver 500 km30 - 2 months ago | Satyashil Patil1 Star – Very Disappointing Experience with Mahindra XEV 9e / XEV 9S I was very excited to buy the XEV 9S, but my experience with Mahindra has been extremely disappointing. The car has multiple manufacturing and software-related defects. Every few days, a new issue appears in the vehicle. Alexa feature is still not activated even after more than 1 month of delivery. Service quality is very poor and there is no proper follow-up from the company or dealership. Sales experience was also not satisfactory, with poor communication and support. For a premium EV, the overall quality control feels incomplete and untested. Instead of enjoying a new car, I am constantly visiting or contacting service support. Mahindra really needs to improve: Vehicle quality checks Software stability Customer support Service responsiveness Delivery readiness before handing over carsRating Parameters(Out of 5)4
