I had a 1991 model of this jeep which requires preheating due to older generation of Peugeot engine( IDI -diesel 2.2L).It packs good torque, good acceleration and awesome road presence, all u gota do is get some nice chrome alloy wheels and give it a metallic paint ,this thing becomes a real sexy beast.
As this model is pretty old i should really be not complaining about its lack of smooth transmission , its engine which becomes a trouble to start in cold weather , drum braking and its interior which all together gives u a feeling that ur driving a vintage truck ..lol...but it is almost 18yrs old with engine still giving a mileage of 11-12kmph making it a perfect vehicle to cruise , tow or wreck other smaller cars........... just kiddin.
People gnerally here in punjab used to modify it with replacing its engine ,steering ,trasnmission just keeping its chassis and its outer sheet metal., which makes this vehicle illegal to drive although it may be more peppy to drive but i dont think its a goood idea...im just happy with its old engine, provided it gets serviced at regular intervals and gets a running every 2nd day.
Fun to drive at the same time not a pleasure and no conforts for its is 1991 model jeep ,if ur looking for comforts go buy urslef a SUV or a car..:D

Exterior The Mahindra Classic is the king of the road! It is an eye-turner whereever you drive it. People will turn around and give you a 2nd look!
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It is not a big vehicle. It is a compact, convertible open jeep with mag wheels. Suspension is hard because it is an off-roader. It is a tough jeep to drive. It is a mean machine.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 4x4. Engine is 2200cc Peugot diesel engine. Front axle is full floating hypoid and rear is semi-floating hypoid. Fuel tank capacity is 40litres. Uses a 12volt battery, 22amps generator/35amps alternator. 4 forward & 1 reverse with 2nd, 3rd and 4th synromesh. Gear rations: 3.986:1, 1.473:1, 1:1, Reverse 5.315:1. Transfer case: Two speeds with ratio 2.46:1 and 1:1. Wheels are meant for cross-country (off-roader).
Ride Quality & Handling The vehicle is hard to handle.
Final Words It is a mean macho machine not for the softies, but for those who like it on the rough!
Areas of improvement Gear box could be made 5-speed with the 1st synromesh. Other than that I dont think the Classic needs any further improvement!
Amazing looks & feel, open convertible jeep with a massive 2200cc Peugot diesel engine. IT ROARS!Suspension is hard because it is an off-roader. Fuel efficiency is low due to higher engine torqueExterior/Styles
