Top Electric cars from the Volkswagen stable at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show

The strongest words that were in the air at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show was Electric vehicle. It created a buzz (excuse the word play) all around and seemed to be the talking point on everyone’s lips. It is, of course, the direction that the auto industry will take over the next 15 years and so we just had to give you our list of notable electric cars that stood out at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. 

Volkswagen ID Buzz

When Volkswagen announced the ID brand they decided to take an iconic route with regard to models. The first car was a hatchback while the second one in logical progression had to be a microbus which it was! Dubbed the Buzz, it’s a modern take on their 1960s super Type 2 Kombi. It uses the new MEB platform and when brought into production, it will be quite practical.  

Volkswagen ID Crozz  

This is the first near production model vehicle to be based on the Volkswagen MEB platform and is expected to see the light of day in 2020. It’s a mid-sized crossover with a large electric heart and a 500km range. It also Gives us an idea of what to expect in future Volkswagen models in terms of design and features.  

Skoda Vision E

Skoda too has jumped on the EV bandwagon and has showcased its vision E crossover. It’s a coupe SUV and this is based on parent company Volkswagen’s MEB platform. It gets a new design language including a futuristic interpretation of their signature moustache grille. Because of the MEB platform, we believe that it will share its underpinnings with the VW ID Crozz. 

Audi Aicon and Elaine 

Sitting right on top of the VW electric display is, of course, Audi with two EV concepts- the Elaine and the Aicon. They are both electric vehicles and display Audi’s efforts in the field of autonomous driving. The Elaine is based on the e-tron crossover and will be one of the semi-autonomous Audi EVs to debut in 2020. The Aicon, with its swanky name, is a fully autonomous vehicle of the future.
