After discreetly teasing the new AMR model, Aston Martin has officially revealed the DB11 AMR as their new flagship. The DB11 AMR replaces the standard V12 version of the Grand Tourer. The DB11 AMR was launched at the new Nurburgring-based AMR Performance Centre in Germany.
Power from the twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 has now increased to 630bhp (30bhp more compared to the outgoing DB11 V12) while the torque figures remain unchanged at 700Nm. With this increase in power, 0-100kmph time is reduced by 0.2 seconds to 3.7 seconds and top speed is now 337kmph. This makes the DB11 AMR one of the quickest GT cars around and the fastest Aston Martin in the carmaker’s line-up.
Aston Martin claims to have re-tuned the suspensions without hampering the comfortable touring abilities of the DB11. The ZF-derived eight-speed automatic transmission has undergone a revised shift calibration. Apart from that, the exhaust note of the DB11 AMR is now louder for an imposing character of Aston's flagship.
Appearance wise, the DB11 AMR gets a new AMR paint job with exposed carbon fibre trim and a glossy black detailing. All the chrome seen on the standard car has been replaced with monochrome trims along with smoked headlights and tail lights to make the DB11 look more sinister. The same dark theme continues on the inside. There are monochrome trims all around the beige Alcantara wrapped cabin. It also comes with AMR’s signature lime livery on the seats, steering wheel and headliner.
The AMR-spec DB11 will be available with limited edition Signature Edition. This variant gets a Stirling Green paint scheme with Lime pinstripes running across the bonnet along with exposed carbon fibre trim. The cabin will be done in Dark Knight leather with the same lime colour finishes. There’s also a carbon fibre and Satin Dark Chrome setting available for the GT’s cabin. These special editions will be limited to just 100 units.
Pricing for the Aston Martin DB11 AMR is 174,995 pounds (approx Rs 1.6 crores) in the UK. The deliveries will commence in Q2 of this year. It will be joined by the Rapide AMR sometime late in 2018 or early next year.
