I drive M800 currently.Tested all enrty level sedans.my running is 11000km per year,mostly highway.
Dezire rear view is difficult & least back seat space for all(fuel 11-14kmpl petrol) but good resale value.Ikon costly maintence in the long run & only cosmetic changes in new model, sales go up with new launch & then fall down(fuel 11-13kmpl).Accent outdated(fuel 9-12kmpl).Indigo CS again poor dealer service & high maintenance cost after 1-2 year due to poor build quality but cheap to buy.Aveo is again not so popular.
Logan (1.4 glx edge)has best colours, space, fuel economy(14-16) & INTERIORS is excellent --premium leather seats, wood finish centre console, kenwood system with i-pod slot, reverse parking sensor, body graphics with purple colour body paint, boot release button, exhaust muffler, trip computer, central locking with engine immobilizer, rear door child lock & rear power window lock. not to mention the huge space inside.Room for 5 adults & 1 child.Tyers 185/70 R14 tubeless standard in all versions.Braking time & safety is on par with ABS models.
Big front & rear windscreen is always helpful in driving as I get excellent view all around.High seating position helps a lot in city driving. Checked up with other customers & confirmed low cost of running.Dealer service just ok.no fog lamps in front(cost Rs.10000/- -- why).power windows button placement???.
Review after 1st service:
Very comfortable for long journey.Drove 4 hours from coimbatore to munnar hills & 2 hours break & then again 4 hours to Kottayam. In return drove via Ernakulam/cochin continously 6.5 hours.People stop & admire the looks everywhere I went. The purple colour with body graphics & leather seats attract attention.Mileage achieved was 17kmpl.(714 kms 42 lts petrol). This includes highway & city driving.Kerala cities traffic is horrible.however no problem in handling city traffic.Bad roads, potholes & small bumps no problem as the suspension is for Indian roads.Strong Car.Safe car.
Current average of city & highway driving is 17-20kmpl.(30:70) at speed of 60kmph & at speed of 100 it drops to 14-15kmpl(with AC on).Driving with or without AC gives same mileage.
My service cost was Rs.46.00 only. However service quality is just ok.They forgot to clean the front & rear windshield before delivery of the car.same for both rear view mirror.Second service cost at 9000km was 1490.00.Third service at end of year 11900kms cost me Rs.1136.00.
Best Interiors & Fuel Economy in class,Easy to handle in city due to good visibility of all sides.price can be reduced by 30000/-.PICKUP is lowExterior/Styles

Hi ,
its almost one month that I have bought this car and have driven some 2000KM it may be a bit early to comment on the complete performance of the car, but so far I really liked the car, its sturdy and spacious, it is also very fuel efficient, though the interior plastics could have been better.
The accelaration is little slow, so you cannot be the first one to come through in traffic, but once you move to 3rd gear its smooth.
The AC is quite effective and overall mileage in diesal is around 18KM per litre right now (in city with AC ).
People in the sales office and service centre (got the 1st service done) were quite helpful.( Jaipur - KS Motors)
I'm enjoying it right now.... hope it remains good even after a year.
regards
Pankaj

It is really an excellent car to own. Good in space - comfortable sitting of five people, enormous material carrying capacity - biggest boot size in its segment, excellect millage - 21+ on highway (unmatched for a big car)and what is not there to make is a real value for money.
I am owning one for past 9 months and am extremely happy to own it because of above facts.
The main drawback that I see is not good enough ground clearance (which is a must considering Indian road conditions) and poor service network - the service centers are open 6 day a week. An office goer gets time for service only on Sundays and the service centers are closed on that day. Mahindra should consider this fact to increase thier value for money. They should bring up their service standards at par with their competetors like Maruti Suzuki.

I own a mahindra logan car which I purchased on 31st July 2008. It is a good performance car. It is spacious & technically has lots of feature in it. But the service provided by Mahindra is awful. I purchased the car from Mahindra Dealer in Gurgaon "Sterling Motors" and found them highly unprofessional. Their staff themselves is not in sync & updated with the communication done with the customer. I was told that I am going to get the cash discount "Rs.7000/-" but till date i.e. 8th Mar 2009 I never heard back from them. I called up many times spoke to the senior executives/manager but no response except false commitments.
I got my first service of car done by "Sri Durga Automobile" at Rama Road, Delhi. I again had a very bad experience with them. They take their customer very casually & don't even bother to inform about the status of the car to the customer. They even don't do the service properly. They broke the connection of Water tank with wiper of my car. That was the service provided to me.
At the end I can say that even if product is undoubtedly good but if the service is bad then product will not have a grip in the market. This is one of the reason it is not seen much on roads.
Mahindra should have a good control on their dealers. The rating I have given above is only for the car. If I compare Mahindra dealers with Maruti I would give them 0 rating from 0 – 5 as I also own a maruti car.

I bought the LOGAN Petrol 1.4GLX in Dec '07 and so far it has run about 9000Kms. My observations are as below:
REASON FOR BUYING: I wanted a Sedan with comfortable seating for 5 members and adequate boot space at reasonable Cost. On this count the LOGAN qualifies for 5/5.
PRO's: Excellent space, clear all round view, Dashboard layout - except for positioning of the AC On/Off switch. The On/Off LED is hidden from direct view and this is a drawback. Feel it can easily be resolved by MAHINDRA rotating the Switch through 90 degrees! Reasonably good AC.
Driving Experience:
CONS: Found that the Power Steering is a bit Hard and Car is slightly heavy to steer. Also the clutch has to be depressed fully for First gear engagement. Some unexplained minor squeaks and rattles are present! The direction of the Wipers is not a problem BUT what is unsettling is that at slow speed it throws water on its return which is a bit disconcerting. Front seat bottom has to be made flat, currently there is a small depression to the rear which causes some discomfort. Rear seat is extremely comfortable.
PRO's: Smooth to drive, Excellent ride quality, in fact much better than quite a few High end Sedans. Beige interiors is pleasant. Have read quite a bit about the non-availability of Power window controls on the hand rests but considering what we pay, (approx. 1 lakh less for this car) this can easily be overlooked and the Central Controls are conviently placed. Great Boot space allows for storing of lots of luggage on trips.
MILEAGE: City - Regularly get around 11 Kms (50% AC). Semi-Highway - 13-14 Kms. Highway - Not yet done any really long drives in the LOGAN.
OVERALL: Good value for money. As I said earlier, if you are clear in your objective of buying a Large SEDAN with comfortable seating and decent performance at an affordable price, LOOK NO FURTHER. As I was clear on this count, I am happy with the deal!

I have a white 1.4GLE Logan. My driving has not been much - just under 1000 kms and gotten my first srvice done. The flip sides I would put first - service mens are good but below delight level. With A/C on, there is a light cranky sound in the car. Tachometer is not user frinedly.
Now thw better side - The best thing in this car is it's Space - especially the back seat -it's just Superb! Your people will never complain, feel crammed in a Logan back seat. The front seat is too too - as driver - all the sides views are also good. U get a lot of space near and side of dash board. The ride is quite smooth - I drive from Malad to Essel World and back - the up down roads on Kashimira feels smooth - once there is pick up, the drive is also fine.
Fuel economy wise, in Mumbai city it's just about 8 kms with A/C on. On highway, with reasonably traffic and tool naka stops, I got 15 kms with A/C on. Engine boot space is good, and so is rear boot. Now my wife nerev compains on her week end shopping trips, about lack of space to keep bags -:).
The A/C etc buttons are located slightly lower, so shile driving u may have to bend to reach them, if needed.
Way ahead of Indigo, Accent, Exteem and Swift. a careful look at the few ridges and curves on the wheel side gives a character to this car as well.

I bought Mahindra Logan 1.4 GLX (Petrol) in March '08. Till Jan '09 the car has run 14000 kilometers and have travelled extensively, some times at a stretch for 10 hours. Mahindra Logan my 3rd car. The first two cars were Indica Diesel. Though my average speed is about 80 KMPH on highways, I have also driven this car at an average speed of 110 KMPH from Kolhapur to Khandala to test it's speed and perseverance. On an average, I drive from Thane to worli, where my office is, almost 2 times a week.
My Positive experience is as under: i. Competitively Priced for such a spacious interior and Boot space; ii. Accessories offered at this price are amazing(power steering, 4 power windows, central locking) offered in GLX 1.4; ii. Highly spacious inside, expecially breadth of the seat (3 fat persons are comfortably accomodated on the rear seat), including the leg space & boot space, iii. Vey low maintenance, iv. Fuel efficiency of around 13 kmpl in city with A.C. on; v. clear view of the road through driver's seat; vi. Proactive pre/post-service follow up from the Service station; vii. Car does not skid on sharp turn inspite of speed; viii. very powerful A/c.
The areas of improvements are as under: i. Ground clearance need to be improved. When a fully occupied car passes over a speed braker, the bottom touches the speed braker; ii. The breadth of the sheet metal is thin as compared to Tata Vehicle (previously I owned an Indica) as a result, there are easy dents the sheet metal.iii. The appearance of the boot needs to be improved. It gives an impression of vehicle being rammed from the rear side. iv. After continuously driving for about 3 & 1/2 hours at an average speed of 110 kmph, we heard some rattling sound of screws from the dashboard.
The over all experience of the vehicle is Excellent. A true value for Money. A big car with reasonably good accessories, available at a price of small premium cars.
Highly spacious interior and boot; value for money, fuel efficient, no skidding, zero maintenanceBody metal sheet is too thin compared to Tatas, ground clearance to be improved for 5 people carExterior/Styles
