Few vehicles are capable of turning heads as much as a Lamborghini. The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is capable of capturing a lot of attention. Whether you are in the market for buying the new Gallardo (pronounced guy-YAR-doh), or are just dreaming, this new car guide contains photos, specs, road test information, and information from car reviews by owners of the 2009 model (because the 2010 model is so new, owner models are not out yet).

The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is available in two trims: the 2 door, LP560-4 coupe, and the 2 door, LP560-4 Spyder convertible. The coupe retails for $198,000, while the convertible retails for $221,000; invoice pricing is currently not available. Car pricing will keep many would-be buyers away, but those who can afford this vehicle will certainly have a vehicle that makes many jealous. A limited edition LP550-2 Valentino Balboni model will be available for a little bit more; only 250 of these more exclusive vehicles will be made.

    Improvements from the 2009 Gallardo

The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo makes several improvements over the 2009 model, including a new direct injection system, “Inienzione Diretta Stratificata”, which increases output, but cuts fuel usage and CO2 emissions. This vehicle is also lighter than last year’s model, which improves performance.

    Performance

Although the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is considered to be an “entry level” Lamborghini, there is not too much to this vehicle that feels entry level. The 5.2 liter V10 engine delivers 560 horsepower with 398 foot-pounds of torque, putting vehicles outside of this class to shame. This vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, and can speed up to 124 miles per hour in only 11.8 seconds. Top speed for this vehicle is 201 miles per hour. The vehicle handles well, as the all-wheel drive grips to the road.

    Exterior Features

There is plenty to like about the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo, and although this vehicle is primarily purchased for speed, the exterior features don’t disappoint. Dual power remote, heated door mirrors come standard, as does a power retractable spoiler, headlight washer, and daytime LED running lights. At night, the bi-Xenon headlights light the vehicle’s path. The Spyder model’s power convertible top make taking up and down the top simple.

    Interior Features

The interior of the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is high-quality. The controls are logically placed, and the leather and aluminum steering wheel is top-notch. The vehicle comes with dual zone automatic climate controls, a two-way power seat for the driver and four way power seat for the passenger, heated front seat backs, and leather seat trim. An in-dash mounted, MP3 capable CD player with radio, performance speakers, and an auxiliary input come standard. The cabin can be a little difficult to enter. The trunk is not large, but Lamborghini makes special luggage that you can purchase that will provide enough room for a weekend away.

    Safety & Specifications

Like most other vehicles in its class, the 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo has several car safety features built in. An anti-lock brake system, front and rear anti-roll bars, electronic stability system, and traction control all come standard. This vehicle comes with driver and front side airbags, height adjustable seat belts with pretensioners, and seat mounted side airbags for both the driver and the passenger. A low tire pressure warning also comes standard. NHTSA crash test ratings are unavailable.

    Upgrade Options

Although the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo already comes equipped with many of the features that you would want in a vehicle, there are a few options that are available to owners. A programmable garage door opener, parking assist, and content theft deterrent system come as options. Bluetooth compatibility, a navigation system, and an ash tray are also options. Luggage isn’t an option to the vehicle, but you may want to purchase Lamborghini’s special luggage if you wish to take this car out on a weekend trip.

How the Gallardo Compares to Other Super Luxury Sports Cars

The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is one of the best super luxury sports cars out there. While the Lamborghini Murcielago performs better, it also comes with a price tag that is $150,000 higher than this one. The similarly priced Aston Martin DB9 is worth looking at, and if you need a four-seater, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti will provide additional room. With a fuel efficiency of 12 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, the Gallardo out-performs most of its competitors.

The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo comes with a three-year, unlimited mileage warranty for basic, drive train, and corrosion coverage. The Intellichoice 5 year cost of ownership is not published for Lamborghinis, although if you need to know how much it will cost you to own this vehicle, you might not be able to afford it. The same goes for car insurance; this vehicle drives faster and costs more than the vehicles on the most-expensive-to-insure lists (because this vehicle is not widely circulated, it is not included on the list). The J.D. Power Quality Ratings are not available on this vehicle, and are not available for the past couple of model years either.

Conclusion: Is the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo a Smart Buy?

The question of whether the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo is a smart buy really depends on the person purchasing the vehicle, and whether they have enough money to buy it. Many people dream of owning a Lamborghini someday, but it would not be a smart buy if you had to sell your house to purchase it. If you have the money for it without becoming car poor, and you want a super-performing sports car that can speed faster than 200 mph, the Gallardo is a good buy. The comfortable seats and rapid acceleration make this a fun vehicle to drive, and user auto reviews are generally positive. If you can afford it, this vehicle is an excellent super-sports car purchase.
