Jaguar, after being acquired by Tata Motors, made its foray into the Indian market and the XF sedan was one of their first products to be launched in India. The executive luxury sedan was Jaguar’s first car to don the new Jaguar fascia and helped the British car maker revive its fortunes globally. The fresh design, reliability and efficient powertrains made the Jaguar XF a strong contender in the international market.
The Jaguar XF, just like the ferocious cat it symbolises, looks fast and mean. The large ovoid mesh grille in the front dominates the fascia. The slim elongated cat-eye headlamps are sleek and get xenon projector lamps. The chrome accents on the three part air dam along with the chrome lining for the grille give it the premium it deserves. Jaguar has kept the profile simple with a high shoulder line, a steep raked A-pillar and the sloping roof making the car look fast.
As compared to the competition, the XF is a generation older and it shows. The interiors are plush but the layout looks dated. The leather top dashboard gets silver accents along with wooden veneer and complements the beige cabin. The twin pod instrument cluster reads speed and revs along with the various information displayed by the MID sandwiched within. It gets all the creature comforts like electrically adjustable seats, electrically operated sunroof, power adjustable and folding mirrors and a three zone climate control.
The Jaguar XF comes with a bouquet of engine options. We have the 2.2-litre four cylinder diesel mill producing 190bhp of power at 3000rpm and 450Nm of torque from 2000rpm. We also have the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 236bhp of power and 340Nm of torque. The performance enthusiasts can opt for the 3.0-litre diesel turbocharged V6 which develops 271bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. Finally, the XF R breathes 503bhp of power and 625Nm of torque from the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 – the top of the line engine from Jaguar. All the engines are mated to custom tuned eight-speed automatic gearboxes and power the rear wheels. The Jaguar XF competes with the Mercedes E-Class, the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6 in its category while offering one of the most powerful engine options in its class and superior Jaguar handling.
