Over all its same old wine in new bottle , its same santro with ABS and sunroof nothing more, the name i 10 dosent suit for the new model since its a compromise to santro, distinctivly only new features added not a new model .Hyundai to find new design of its own to create impact in Indian market rather than adding new features and creating a Buzz..

Good transformation to middle range carsSame old design

After driving my Zen Lx for almost 7 years, I decided to get myself a new car. Ours is a four member family and we drive it on weekends only (mostly). Our monthly run doesn't exceed 200 Kms  and that too only in city. There was a plethora of choice when I started to look for a petrol hatchback car which had decent space (specially at rear), good to look at and was true VFM. My budget was upto 4.5L (on road). Power steering and Power windows were absolutely must for me. A/C had to be strong as we live in Amritsar, which is blistering hot in summers. Last but not the least Resale value and Comfort level was important too.

With the following criteria in mind, I started looking for cars on the internet (specially CARWALE.COM). I narrowed down to these cars with the respetive variants mentioned. I am going to tell you what were the reasons to choose i10 Magna over these cars. (after Test drive of all the mentioned cars)

      1. Maruti Swift Vxi.: The positives were that it comes with MARUTI badge, Without any doubt the best car to drive (hatchback), looks. The letdowns were PRICE (it was a stretch for my budget). Dreadful black  interiors, build quality is a issue, Just too many swifts on road and believe me or not the Maruti people have become arrogant after success of the Swift.

      2. Maruti Ritz Vxi : The positives were MARUTI badge, Superbly refined KB series Engine, Ride and handling was good too. Turnoffs were that Maruti has got its rear end styling completely wrong, Smallish boot, better interiors that swift but not of  premium quality, Highway stability, Can't reverse park the car properly because of small rear window pane.

      3. Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 Active: Easily the best looking car in this range, Solid build, Something different from others. What I didn't like was FIAT's pathetic Sale and Service, Underpowered Engine, No rear Power windows, Rear Space not adequate. Bland interiors.

      4. Chevy Spark and Spark: Actually they were never in contetion as I didn't want my car to become a NEW MATIZ.

      5. Tata Indica Vista Saffire Aura:  I Almost felt for this car reason being VFM, Space, Comfort at rear, Equipment. But someone suggested me that Never buy a TATA petrol car. Build quality is always an issue with TATA. So I decided against it.

      6. Santro, Wagon R, New Estilo were not considered as these are old cars with some minor facelifts.

Reasons to buy and my Experience with i10 magna.

Hyundai cars of better build than other cars (except Skoda). This is a fact because i have seen that my friends 7 yr old Santro still doesn't rattle as my Zen used to do. When i test drove the i10 1.2 Magna, I almost  immediately knew this car is perfect for me. The reasonns are:

      1. Very good looking car (front end and rear). I can't find anything wrong with the looks of this car. (my prospective only)
      2. Best in class Interiors. When you sit in this car, you will immediately know what is driving the sales chart of this car. The Interiors are without any doubt the best in class. The color Scheme, the quality, the aesthetics are class leading. You will love to spent time in this car when you are stuck in a traffic jam.
      3. Kappa Engine is a hoot to drive. You will love this Engine if you love to drive (though not in Swift's or Ritz league). It has a very good transmission and Steering is accurate too. Ride and handling is up to the mark too. Gear shift is accurate and really good. Great for city traffic. NVH insulation is best in class. When I stop at signals, I can hardly feel that Engine is ON.
      4. Decent Equipment list. Tachometer, All doors Power windows, central Locking, Headlight adjustment, Instrument Cluster details all make this car a complete package in this range.
      5. Very Effective A/C and Heater are a bliss in Amritsar's extreme Hot and Cold weather.
      6.  Sale and Service staff of our local Hyundai Showroom made our buying experience really wonderful. They delivered on what they committed and in fact they exceeded our expectations.
      7. True Value for money car. I paid 3.9L (on road) for i10 1.2  magna, making it a very good deal. As a package deal, I got

      a)  Keyless Entry (Hyundai genuine)
      b) Sony's music System with USB. (A very good model with genuine Sony's Speakers and 2 yr Warranty)
      c) Fog Lamps (Front)
      d) Seat Covers (Only thing that could have been better quality wise)
      e) GARWARE Sun film (certified)
      f) First yr Comprehensive Cashless Insurance ( Bajaj Allianz)
      g) R/C and Temperory number (with Number plates)
      h) The usual Body Cover, Flaps, Mats, Anti Rust Coating, Teflon Coating, 20 ltrs PETROL and other goodies etc.

All this at 3.9L (on Road) makes i10 1.2 Magna a sure winner and trust me you can't go wrong with a Hyundai product.
Got deleivery of my car (Crystal White color) on 23 Dec 2009. I am loving this car. I will write my ownership review after 10 days.

VFM, Best Interiors in the class, Solid Build, Decent rear space and many more...Non adjusting front seat Headrests, Rear wash wiper ommited on 1.2 Magna.

This is the first time I am writing a review of any kind and the reason I write is bcoz it is so well deserving. I have owned my i-10 Magna 1.2 for 2 years now, i celebrated its 2nd b'day on Feb 2011 & I still ADORE driving it  :-)

Exterior Sporty, Trendy and yet Very Sober & VERY Cute!

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Its a compact car with a very decent built. I drove my i-10 Magna 1.2 with my uncle, aunt & mom sitting in the backseat, all 3 of them decently well built & they were absolutely fine & had enough space to sit comfortablely.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is Awesome..!! We drove the car at 100 to 120 KMPH on the highway & the car absolutely doesn't make u feel uncomfortable of the speed - its that Smooth!! Especially with windows up; its only when u pull down the windows u realize that u r actually driving the vehicle at that speed just bcoz of the wind gushing into the car.

The Gearbox is very comfortably placed. Apart from changing gears, i often use it as a handrest for my left arm (lol). Funny, I knw..!! Changing gears is no problem in traffic, i can swiftly change gears without getting stuck or my vehicle stopping anytime.

Fuel efficiency is the ONLY concern for me. Inspite of good & regular maintenance, fuel consumption is 'A' little too much. It only gives me a mileage of  13-15 Km/L within city limits. I so much wish there's a way to improve that & i can only hope if Hyundai could come up with a plan on this.

Ride Quality & Handling Riding my i-10 is alwz a pleasure for me. I do not need a reason to drive it, somdays i go for long drives just for the pleasure of driving it :-)  Ride-Quality & handling the car is never-never an issue. Its an absolute fun & pleasure!!

Final Words Ladies & gentlemen, who would like to buy a small economic car for work & personal lives, this is an absolutely amazing car. A complete family car.

Areas of improvement With i-10, i only hope that Hyundai can come up with a fuel efficiency plan. Also, when I bought my car, prices had fallen & so to reach out to customers they removed a few features in Magna, like my vehicle does not have a rear wash wiper. They should make it more flexible for customers to choose their choice of vehicle's. I wanted to choose between Magna & Sportz bcoz technically, Sportz has few extra features & comes along with in-built Kenwood music system, with 2 rear speakers. I wanted the Sportz version without the music system, coz i wanted to add my own. But that was not a choice i could make. I needed to pay 45K more for the additional features & music system. So i had to give up on sportz & instead bought Magna. I added my own Sony music system, 2 rear JBL speakers & 2 front Sony speakers all for 12K only.

I Do Not Regret. I still manage to drive comfortably in rain without needing a rear wash wiper. And most importantly, price wise, its very well economially placed. So all in all, i-10 is a Winner for me. I love my roadie buddy!! So if you have plans for a small family & office car.. GO AHEAD..!!

      God Bless~

Sportive looks. Spacious. Compact. Vry Sturdy & absolutely comfortable to drive thru traffic.Fuel efficiency can be improved

I brought hyundai i10 magna model white color from NRL Hyundai Agra a month back. They are biggest cheaters in the world. They took all the money from me through online bank transfer and till now i have not got complete bills of the car and its accessories. They have provided me forged bills without any TIN number on it. When i asked about it they replied either take these bills or forget it. They have not even given me bill for the RTO registration. They have shown me a seat cover and when i took the delivery of the car a different seat cover was given to me. When i asked about it they were asking for more money.  They provided same price quote for the while color and metallic color and when asked they refused to return any money.

They are cheating the Tax depratments of india big time.

Well, went for a test drive today. Have mixed feelings. Let me share the +'s first.

      1. Good interiors

      2. Spacious feel and look

3.Seating position is high ala Santro.

4.Nice power steering (boon in the city, better than Santro)

      5. Rear space slightly better than Santro

      6. Can drive in 4th gear @ 30 kmph

      7. Road noise doesnt percolate into the cabin

      Now for the -'s

      1. Priced on the higher side.

      2.Bumpy ride

3.Doesnt seem like a strong build (like santro again)

4.Requires a quick gear change from 1st to 2nd - tends to drag after 50 kmph..

I've had a Santro for 6 years now and was happy and wanted to look at another car which was similar as a change. Voila after driving the i10 I felt like I was driving another Santro with better steering (which it is since its going to replace Atos (Santro) in mature markets). Hence if you want a Santro look at i10,if you already have a Santro - then look at the Swift or Getz or higher...This car is not in B+ range but in the B range and the extra price is for Interiors and goodies like Airbags,ABS....For those who want a quick City runabout car in City traffic this one makes sense !!!

Good interiors, looks and feel spacious, decent height positionPrice on the higher side, bumpy ride...

I bought the car just before diwali and i have had experience of driving M800 before this.. The dealer gave me around 40k discount for the earlier version (kappa without vtvt) but then i did not want to buy an outdated car and so got the new one without any discount. Given the past riding experience, this one was complete luxury. I loved the interiors and the leg room for rear seats. The handling was amazing and easy for a not-so-experienced driver like me. Highway riding was enjoyable without strain. Clocked max speeds of 100+ kmph on highways without any issues whatsoever at all.

As for the cons, very hard to find. But then i would have loved climate control/blue tooth connectivity as a standard feature (a la beat/figo) . Shelling out 30k extra for blue tooth and driver side airbags didnt make much of a sense for me.. Works out cheaper for me to buy a bluetooth head phones.. Also, i felt that the included speakers for the i10 sportz was average.. Would have loved a better sound quality.

The minor feature improvements made against earlier versions do provide a nice feeling of driving a high end car rather than a budget small car.

Havent really tested out the city mileage.. but on highways it gave me standard 18kmph with intermittent A/c. Note here that my speeds ranged from 80 - 100  kmph for the entire stretch.

Definitely the small car for a familiy.

interiors, pickup, fuel economy, handlingexpect climate control, stereo not up to my liking

was very keen to buy a small car which had automatic transmision, and reserve it for for city drive. Unfortunately, the choice is very limited for small cars with automatic transmission. Only wagon R and i10 are available with auto transmission. Since this was the better looking, we went for this car. There was a Santro with auto trans mission, but that has been discontinued three months ago! The result is that you are forced to buy a car which is 60,000 dearer than Santro
However, the car has its pros and cons. And there are more pros... Read on... I wont be comparing this with wagon R, as i didn't do that while buying.

The car has been with me for two weeks, so i wont comment about the mileage! Its one model less than the top model and thus one would expect almost everything provided in the car. However, there is a major compromise on passenger safety as well as car safety in this model as compared to the top model!

Shape: Acceptable. Its a tall design and getting in is very easy esp for tall people. We cant call it elegant as it lacks the refinement of a Honda jazz

Exterior fitments: All provided and good. Lights are excellent; There are no fog lights in this model as well as no switch for a potential fog light fitment. the slot is available on the bumper. In north India that is a requirement; however i didn't get that fitted as i didn't want anyone tampering with the bumper and the dashboard in a new car.

Interior comfort: Very spacious. No headrest for the front seats; however the seats are comfortable. Back seats are folding and comfortable with head rests. Driver seat cannot be raised. The dashboard color is golden beige, which does not really match with any exterior color except, white, black and champagne. That is a setback as it is in sharp contrast with all other exterior colors. The seat fabric is good, but could have been better. It will get dirty fast as it is very light colored. Families with children - be careful.

      The controls are elegant.

Air conditioning is excellent and the heater works well. Rear defogger is helpful and wiper washer at the back is very useful on long trips.

Interior facilities: Fantastic facilities. It has almost everything. Good spaces. Tachometer is digital and looks good. There are two trip meters and helpful. Good slot for your mobiles and mp3 plyers; conveniently located near the lighter point. Interior light is good, but lacks a light for theback passengers.

Music player: 2 DIN music player is elegant and the sound produced by the 4 speakers is good and more than satisfactory. It has a radio, CD and mp3 disc player. No usb port, but has an auxillary channel out which can be used to connect your i pod!

Automatic transmission come with a over drive facility and is very good and reliable. Gear shift is smooth and the indicators on it are easily seen.

Ride quality is fantastic with no noise from the 1.2 liter engine. The pick up is excellent and the car is well powered. I found the shock absorbers a bit stiff while driving - an observation which might be because the car is new. I will have to wait for a while to comment about it.
It can take a large and a cabin bag easy in the luggage space. But you cant think of loading this car with more than three pieces of luggage.

A word about passenger and car safety. The BS and AIR bags are provided in the top model only, which is very expensive. So there is no choice but to go for this model. The key less entry option is also available in the top model.

I have over the years owned and driven Maruti 800, Maruti Esteem high end model and Toyota corolla automatic model. It is an excellent buy as a second car or as a first car, if you have to drive in the city or not carry much luggage on long trips. Ideal for couples or families with one child.

This car being automatic has a big advantage for city traffic. One does not have to worry about clutch or shifting gears. Automatic models are always costlier by about 10% over the manual models, but are a delight to drive. The worry about low mileage is a misnomer if one excepts the fact that it will be one km less to a liter as compared to the manual model. In India, automatic transmission has not come of age but in reality this country is ideal for automatic transmission or should i say, automatic transmission is made for this country.

Conclusion: Anyone interested in an automatic model, i10 Kappa sports has it all - almost. For manual transmission era 1.1 or kappa sportz1.2 are good choices. However 1.2 engine is much better than 1.1. Close your eyes and go for it. There is no choice in automatic models and anyway, you will be gainer in the long run as it is a very good buy!! This car is an excellent run for long distance trips too.
Specs are goodBeige interiors, no light for back passengers, no fog lights

I purchased i10 Magna 1.2 Kappa 2 on 23rd of April 2011. Here my first review of the i10.

      Date of Purchase: 23-Apr-2011.

Kms Driven as of now: 350 (City 300, Highway 50).

Fuel Economy: 10 kpl (90% ac on).

Exterior I like the styling of i10, especially the facelift when compared to the old one.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are very good when compared to the competitors, Space is adequate. Comfortabally acomdiate 5 people (average body).  I am able to understand the concept of i-relax seats, as the seats are really very comfortable.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine Performance is excellent and able to touch the speedo upto 100kms and its stable. When its fully loaded with 5 people and AC is on there is lag in the power. Fuel Econmony is around 10 kpl and I think it may improve once the first servicing is done. may be it will reach upto 13-14kpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is excellent. Handling is superb. Within traffic and while making u-turns the power steering helps a lot. When it comes to highways I am able to touch 100kms only and within that limit the Handling is ok. I think tyre size needs to be improved.

Final Words Overall its a good family car and suitable for City driving.

Areas of improvement Nothing... Even the mileage has been improved compared to the previous model. I dont think this can be improved further. I will write a review again once my first servicing done.

I have been test driving i10 and Brio and was in a confusion which one to buy. Now, I have decided that I am going for i10 automatic.

Many people will not read this long review – but trust me, READ IT! It’s a 3 months R & D.

When you are looking for a small hatchback, looks are not that much of criteria. More is how much will it rip my pocket. I10 has been around for long time and because of Brio been introduced, Hyundai has started discounts on i10, which is GREAT. For a person who wants a hatchback with a comfort of driving, either would do. But…. Here are some of my observations.

Here are some Pros & cons of i10

Looks – Well, what can you expect from a car that small. Looks are OK.

Drive comfort: I did not like the driving comfort that much as the driver’s seat is like a “neelkamal” chairs. Not that the quality, but the sitting comfort. It’s too upright which causes a discomfort when you have your right leg on accelerator and break. To get in a comfort position, you need to push your seat back (a lot) which hits on back seat passenger’s space. (But its compromisable)

Engine: for a 1.2 L engine, it does its job. You are not going to do any drag race or do “Am-I-the-first-to-go-from-the-light” contest. For the car which weighs close to one ton, 1.2 L with 80 bhp is more than enough. You don’t need 3.0 L V6 engine for city driving.

Automatic Gear Box: Well, it’s quite disappointing. I10 automatic is a 4 speed automatic. Well, it’s technically a 3 speed & an overdrive. I am really surprised why Hyundai has come up with this 4 speed automatic for all its automatic cars. Verna (which has the same transmission) – fits good… (Not driven i20 automatic), but for i10 looks as though you can fir another gearbox between 3 and 4th gear!!!! 3rd revs and picks good, but when it shifts to 4th, it feels as though you have moved from 2nd to 10th gear all of a sudden!!! But again it’s something that I can deal with. I am not going for a long drive everyday!!!!

Mileage: Hmmm… Most people are interested in this section of review. Trust me, if you are looking for mileage, then i10 automatic petrol is not a car for you. It’s suggested to go rather for manual diesel which would give you 22 or 25 (whatever the millage is) per liter. None (at least till I know) of the automatic would give you any good millage. So, if you want comfort of driving, forget millage. 10 KMPL (as mentioned in all the reviews) is more than enough for the office-home-shopping city driving.

Interior: Interior quality is much much much better than Brio. People do say that Brio does look spacious and technically, has more space. But imagine for a car which is 80mm long, how much space will you get extra!!!! Surprisingly, i10 has lot of gizmos than Brio. CD player, Bluetooth (high end model), better looking dash board (excluding the color – Blue), but what matters is build quality. I10 is much better in build quality than Brio. If you are looking for a plastic of toy car quality, go for Brio. I10 has a little better plastic quality than Brio.

Cost: Onroad cost for both are more or less the same. But Hyundai has started many discounts to increase its sales. Talk to the marketing guy to see if you can get anything on the car extra & any discounts. I am getting tons of it. For me – I am getting 75K off on i10. So, even to get a breakeven (considering i10 millage is 2 kmpl less than Brios), its long (close to 2 years) for the city driving that you would be doing. So, just 2 kmpl more would not make much of a difference.
