Exterior

Front: Massive upgrade on styling on the old i10, car looks small and narrow from front but is actually lengthier on side and spacious inside. Looks sharp from front. Headlamps and fog lamps look very pleasing.

Rear: Looks great with 3 brake lamps, 2 reverse lights (even i20 has only one on left side and looks very odd) and 2 big reflectors on bumper. Illumination at the back is excellent. Huge Hyundai logo on back looks impressive too. Boot opening has a button not a lever. Very easy and convenient to open.

Sides: Very nice and simple design. Big windows on front and back doors which go down fully. Thick black molding on doors to avoid scratches (I added these, Magna variant doesn't come with these).

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 When I got into the car for the first time, my immediate impression was that there are no visible signs of any cost cutting. Interiors look very pleasing to eye wth the dual tone colors. All 4 windows are automatic. Auto adjusment of OVRMs through a joystick control is superb feature. The amount of space in this car is amazing. I don't know how Hyundai has managed to do this. Storage space in all 4 doors. Rear AC is a great feature which no other car has in this segment. Govt. has banned tint films so this AC vent at back will be a very useful feature. Space for keeping God idols on dash. There are many other tiny features, I can't write all, which will make you go Wow!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox, Ride Quality & Handling

 Being a diesel engine, there are some vibrations and some noise but it's not a bother at all. Clutch pedal is smooth like a petrol car, not entirely jerk free though. Gear shift is slick. Great acceleration and it will help you through city traffic. Highway driving is satisfactory but not comparable to a car like Swift Diesel. Cruises well between 90-120. Suspensions are soft. Comfortable drive. The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is so buttery, you can turn with your fingers. Great drivability and handling.

Final Words

 Perfect diesel car for city and odd highway long drives.

So my problem started the day I went for grand i10 s fancy features and decided to buy this car from advaith hyundai. The nightmare started to unfold on the 1st day itself. 1st day after I received the car after may be around 20 km of driving it, a very strange burning smell started coming out of the car. It was so strong that we thought something was burning inside. Immediately next day I went back to the showroom and told them about the problem, someone came and saw and said its something wrong with the clutch. They even tried blaming the driving and I had to show how I drive even though I've been driving for last 10 years and had never encountered such a problem. So after being fully satisfied with my driving they said clutch needs to be adjusted and things will be fine. I said ok and took the car back. But the smell continued and after my repeated visits to the showroom they said leave the car there so that they can figure out  the problem as they had no clue what the problem was. So next day when I was supposed to get the car back they tell me that the clutch is completely gone and needs to be changed. Imagine my situation at that point. I bought a brand new car and it has not been driven for more than 100 km and they said the clutch is burnt. What was I supposed to do. They had no answer to how this had happened. So the clutch was changed and the car was taken on test drive by the advaith hyundai engineer me and my friend and again this time the same smell. After this point I have refused to take the car back as its a faulty car from the making and I have not paid my money for defective peice. They got one more brand newi10 grand for test ride to compare the smell and the same smell came from the other car also. So I think one whole batch of cars are defective. I would never suggest anyone to buy this car and go through the same problem that I m going through.

I bought this vehicle 2 months back and already 4 times I took it to the service center. There is some serious issue with the electrical and they have not found out a permenant fix still. I am completely disappointed with the kind of service they provide. I Bought the vehicle from APCO Hyindai and the service engineers are not well trained.The car features are ultimate but you cannot trust this vehicle for a long drive. We got stuck 4 times on raod and still fighing for a permanant fix. When I faced the same issue in the second time, the issue was handled in such a careless way that the Hyundai trained service personals were not even bothered to check the route cause for the fuse to get burnt; instead they believed that the issue would be solved by replacing the fuse. I am stuck at the mid of my way without having any connectivity which is almost 600kms from my home. We two people are staying in a hotel from yesterday without knowing when can we go back with the car..!! Will Hyundai be responsible for our these unexpected expenses…?

Exterior Excellent exterior. Veri nice shapes & Curves.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) More specious than other cars of similar category. Features are unbelievable. no one can offer you such features in same cost. Comfort very high. Earlier I had  I10 petrol. Now i havent feel any change in driving comfort. Back seats also have very high level of comfort. That rear AC blower in mind blowing fetarure.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very less noise. proper isolation provided through Window shields, Very smooth. Fuel economy has not calculated yet. But it Seems about 20 kmpl with AC & 24 kmpl w/o Ac.

Ride Quality & Handling Driving qualityis like Petrol vehicle. Very very smooth & Comfortable for City & Highway driving.

Final Words Best car in diesel segment. One should definately go for it. Better option for entry level.

Areas of improvement Needs to improve Pick-up little bit. Not necessary.Nothing else to do.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine has very good pulling power in 1,2,3 & 4 gear. However, in top gear its more of a gliding and less of power. Yet, its a very good car for highway drive too!. I touched upto 130 kmph, it was very smooth.

Fuel economy is good, if not impressive. highway drive gives 16.5 KMPL and city drive gives 13 KMPL with AC on all time!.  

55 litres of pertrol gave 880 kms mileage, of which 220 kms driven in city and 660 kms driven in highway. combined average is 16 KMPL. I calculated Rs 4.20 spent of fuel per KM in Grand I10. But, in swift your spent would be Rs 3.70(I gathered). which is quiet a bit for middle class car owners. Clearly, mileage is an area of improment for this car :( 

Note: if you keep your driving speed not more than 100 Kmph in highways, naturally you could improve mileage over 17 or 17.50 with AC on, your cost would be Rs 4 per KM on petrol which is better. 

Ride Quality & Handling

Steering response is very good and you would feel confident at top speed in high ways. seats, legroom and good AC are big plus in this car, My friends in the rear seat couldn't help but, sleep comfortabily be it in high way or city drive such is the quality of the ride!, But, the quality deteriorate when the roads are bumpy and noise level is a bit more, it wakes up the folks sleeping in the rear seat ;).

Actually, hyundai has done better job with suspension than earlier I10 or I20. I definitely noticed a big difference in grand I10 and it is better! But, its isnt smooth enough on bumpy roads and a bit noisy as well,  when compared with maruti swift, swift definitely gives a little better ride quality and comfort on bumpy roads. Otherwise, no difference.

Final Words

My final verdict: its definitly a classy car than swift, look and feel of both interior and exterior is excellent and loaded with features which are very useful at times. if you are not to much concerned on mileage I would highly recommend this car. Otherwise, maintainenace & service cost is of no difference from swift.

Ask yourself wheter you want to buy swift only because you save a litte in fuel and a little better comfort on bumpy roads or Grand I10 which is a lot better and futuristic in all other ways?

The grand I10 is sleek and not unncessarily bulky like swift, this helps very much in bangalore especially in small road where cars are tightly parked in either side of the roads or in city main roads on bumper to bumper traffic.

Its fantastic car for regular city drive and very good for high way drive as well. 

Note: if you are drive freak who often cross 100KMPH mark in high way I re-commend you install ABS for better safety and confidence. For others, its a fine car.

Areas of improvement  

Priority 1: Hyundai need to improve on mileage if they could add another 1.5 or 2 kms to the mileage chart and tune suspension for better ride quality on bumpy roads.  i'm sure that this would beat swift and many other hatch backs in indian market for a very long time. 

Note: both swift and grand I10 uses the same macphersion strut suspension which was invented in 1947!

Exterior & interior styling, very responsive steering & engine, legroom both front and rear, bootCould give better mileage, No air bag or ABS even in top variants (only optional)

Exterior Very good exterior, fluidic design , look awesome to see.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I like interior, Hyundai used quality items in interior not like Maruti, feel very elegant to seat inside and its eye catching

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Like lot fuel economy, i drive almost 350kms till today, n very happy to see that just in 15 days  and getting 12.5 kpl in city and 16 kpl on highway. Full mark to Hyundai for fuel average.

Ride Quality & Handling Very smooth and easy gear handling , very good shock observer, comfort to seat and drive, very silent engine.

Final Words Its really awesome  car and i am asking that we should buy this as i have taken test drive of  swift, brio, Ritz, but surprise to see that Hyundai came out with very good product value of money.

Areas of improvement It should be called (i15) not Grand i10.

Finally I am very much satisfied with Hyundai Grand, I don’t want to call it Grand i10 as it has nothing to do with i10, its almost similar with i20, and at first look not able to differentiate between i20 and Grand

I Have purchased Grand i10 in 2014 but it was 2013 manufacture car and just in few hundreds kms I faced a wierd issue with the car clutch and gear box. All of sudden the gear box  got stuck in middle of my drive and was not able to continue as in whatever speed I am driving it jus runs at 10kms/hr speed and it was a terrific experience.

Then the showroom said out of 100 vehicles they have 2-3 vehicles with same issue and they promised to sort it out.

They said they replaced some parts and returned my car but unfortunetly I was facing same issue reguarly and they told me to pull clutch and hold it and issue will be sorted.

So everytime I did same I continued my drive.

So now I droved 60k kms and issue has turned out to be worse and showroom says it is routine issue and i need to replace it with 12000 cost.

I wonder why should I pay this when I have the issue from dayone.

Can anyone help me what to do with this?

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is good, 12kmpl before 1st service.

Ride Quality & Handling Love to ride my new grand i10, smooth and steady. Sportz, in addition to the features of Magna, it comes equipped with rear parking sensors, 2DIN dash integrated music system with AUX/USB, roof rails, turn indicators mounted on the ORVMs, tilt steering, push button start/stop, cooled glove box and smart key.

Grand i10 looks like a dream hatchback, which includes power, performance, safety, style, space, economical and speed.
