In its fifth-generation avatar, the facelifted Honda City continues to offer good interior space, segment-expected features, decent driving dynamics, and road presence.
Positives:
Known for its iVTEC technology, the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine is high-revving and quite tractable. And pairing it with a slick-shifting six-speed manual makes it a breeze to drive.
This is the first and only car in India to offer ADAS technology with a manual gearbox.

Five USPs of the Honda City:
- The Honda City is a household name in India. It is instantly recognisable and carries a certain brand value with it. It is also known for being a reliable, hassle-free, and no-fuss sedan that will do everything you ask of it without any complaints.
- With the update, Honda is offering ADAS with the City. The ADAS hardware includes collision mitigation braking, lane departure mitigation and keep assist, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam assist, and lead car departure notification.
- The Honda City also offers all the features expected from its segment. You get an electric sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, auto headlamps and wiper, 8.0-inch infotainment screen with wireless smartphone integration, wireless charger, PM2.5 air purifier, and smartphone connectivity.
- It is also high on safety with six airbags, ABS with EBD and traction control, lane watch camera, hill start assist, a powered window with anti-pinch, all seats with three-point seatbelts and headrests, ISOFIX anchors points, and TPMS.
- Honda cars have always carried good resale value in India. And so, the City has been one of the few cars in the country that hold their value in the used car market.
Two Features missing in the Honda City:
- There’s no diesel engine option in the City with the update.
- There are no ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, and a cooled glovebox.

- With a familiar beige-black cabin, the Honda City also gets premium-looking wooden inserts along with high-quality plastics and soft-touch materials all around. Even the seats are large and comfortable with side bolstering and contoured headrests.
- One of the City’s strengths across multiple generations has been its ability to draw in the chauffeur-driven crowd, and this one carries on the legacy.
- When seated in the second row, you get more than enough headroom, legroom, and knee-room for two occupants to travel in decent comfort.
- Even the boot space of 506 litres is massive by any standard and has a wide opening and an acceptable height for the loading lip.
- Overall, the new-gen Honda City offers a good blend of space and comfort and gets a premium cabin that you’d surely appreciate the more time you spend with it.

- The humble oneWell comfortable riding with this CVT engine, overall looks are stunning, however the engine is not very powerful in normal drive mode it’s a silent gentle car, but good pulling in sports mode drive, safe driving experience with ADAS technology which is superb , the infotainment is good , interiors are well beautiful. Service is good from my dealer. The auto folding ORVM is missing in my car we have to press the orvm switch every time I turn the engine off , the Honda connect app is a nice one . The front bumper and grill built quality is not up to the mark feels like simple plastic . Not happy with the mileage I get of 12.7 km/L. The Honda All New City stands out with immense practicality, excellent motor, and overall excellent packaging. Our family was in search of a mid-size car ever since we moved to Kerala and having driven Hondas all our lives, the City was always on our shortlist. The other options on our shortlist were the Skoda Rapid, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna. But none of them impressed us more than the City. So we decided to take a test drive of the City at our nearest dealership. The ride and handling were fantastic and we instantly decided to book the car, with delivery available within a fortnight. Once we got our hands on the car, we were able to unleash its true potential, the diesel motor is definitely frugal and fun at the same time with adequate performance on tap. The diesel engine although not the most refined offers an excellent driving experience. Be it in the city or on the highway, the City maintains its fun factor and performance quite well with great steering feel and feedback, handling is excellent too with good body control. The suspension is soft which offers a good ride as well. The car is definitely a looker too with an attractive front end and sleek looks. The dimensions have grown over the previous generations and it shows in the interior space as well, with plenty of room and storage spaces. The car is loaded to the brim with features like a reverse camera, keyless entry, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Traction control, ESP, etc. Moving to service and maintenance, the services from Honda service centers have been great so far with annual service costs coming to around 4000 rupees only. The car hasn't given me any problems so far over the past couple of years since I bought it and I am extremely satisfied with my ownership experience so far. To conclude the overall pros of the car are its excellent and timeless design, feature-loaded and practical cabin, punchy and frugal engine and excellent driving dynamics and ride quality. What more could you ask for from a mid-size sedan? The only cons have to mention about the City are its slightly low ground clearance, the refinement of the diesel engine, and the skinny tires. Overall, in my opinion, if you are in the market for a mid-size sedan under 20 lakhs, look no further than the Honda City, it definitely won't disappoint you.Rating parameters(out of 5)5
