Why should you buy- Jaguar F-Type 2.0-litre

Jaguar has launched the entry-level variant for its flagship sports car, the F-Type. Dubbed the F-Type 2.0-litre, it makes use of an Ingenium petrol engine and allows the F-Type to take on the likes of the Porsche 718 Twins. You can have it as a coupe which costs Rs 90.93 lakhs or as a convertible that is priced at Rs 1.01 crores (ex-showroom).

What’s good about it?
Have you seen an F-Type? Have you? Have you? Then there shouldn’t be any doubt that the topping the list of positives will be its looks. That gorgeous face, those voluptuous lines and those exquisite tail lamps – this is possibly one of Ian Cullum’s best creations. What’s more, the F-Type has won many awards for its looks since its launch. The 2.0-litre version, whether it be the hardtop or the convertible, loses none of that charm and is still quite the looker.

What’s not so good?
A four-cylinder engine. Regardless of whether it sits in a Jaguar or just a sports car, most purists would argue that a four-cylinder engine should kept for the average car. And that if you want to add sports to something that’s expensive, then a six-cylinder or more should be the starting point.

But, Jaguar says that this car is fast in its own right, still has the looks and opens up the F-Type to a large spectrum of buyers. With this engine, the car sheds 52kgs in weight which, in sports car terms, is a big number! Call it if you will, a better handling F-Type.

Best variant to buy?
The 2.0-litre if your budget is big but not that big. Else go for the V8

A pre-production concept of the F-Type called the C-X75 was showcased in 2010. It made an appearance in the 2015 James Bond movie, Spectre, where the car was used by the character Mr Hinx to chase 007 across Rome.
