Top SUVs spotted in the month of July

Every month, we bring to you the future of the automotive market across the world with exclusive spy shots of test-mules of cars spotted across the globe. While we generally have a diverse mix, all we got in July 2018 was a bunch of coupe SUVs from different carmakers. So now, it has been established that the era of Coupe-SUVs, the body form that was thought to be outlandish at one point of time, will become the new norm.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe

The Cayenne was the first of the SUVs dedicated to on-road performance rather than off-road, clinging to Porsche’s DNA despite being an aberration for its size. Now the Cayenne is doing it again for Porsche, all set to become the first Coupe-SUV from the Stuttgart-based marque. Along with the sloping roofline and the new tail design, it will get a variety of petrol performance engines.

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

After BMW came up with the X6, it took some time for Mercedes to come up with an answer. And the answer was the GLE Coupe. The one you can see in the pictures is the new-gen GLE which takes the coupe-on-stilts design to the proper coupe-SUV lines and gets much better proportions. It will be offered with a mix of sporty-petrol and run-of-the-mill diesel engines along with the sportier AMG trims.

Renault Captur Coupe

All the Coupe-SUVs till date have been fancy cars. Even if you like them, the tall price-tags push them away from the reach of the average Joe. So Renault has stepped up and is building the Captur Coupe SUV. This one will be a budget SUV, based on the Captur (similar to the one sold in India) and will have the fancy coupe body style. Expect it to get the famous 1.5-litre K9K DCI engine along with the petrol options.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

With the success of the GLE Coupe, Mercedes immediately replicated the formula on the smaller GLC SUV to build the GLC Coupe. Undergoing a facelift, the GLC Coupe gets the typical new Mercedes signature of the rectangular grille, the high-riding hood and the sloping roofline with the AMG GT-style tail lamps.
