New Land Rover Defender details leaked ahead of debut

- New Defender will be offered in three versions

- The model will be available with a range of petrol and diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid

Last week, the first uncamouflaged image of the all-new Land Rover Defender was leaked on the web. Now, detailed information and specifications of the new Defender have surfaced revealing that the SUV will be available in three versions.

The new Land Rover Defender 110 will debut in October this year followed by the unveiling of the Defender 90 in March 2020 and the Defender 130 in August 2020. The latter will be launched as an MY2021 Defender while the rest of the range will be the MY2020 Defender.

Dimension wise, the Land Rover Defender 90 measures 4323mm in length, 1,927mm in height and 1,999mm in width while the wheelbase stands at 2,587mm. The Defender 110 measures 4,758mm in length, 1,916mm in height, 1,999mm in width and 3,022mm of wheelbase. The Defender 130, on the other hand, measures 5,100mm in length, 1,915mm in height and 1,999mm in height while the wheelbase is rated at 3,022mm.

Powertrain options on the new Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 range will include three diesel engine options and two petrol engine options. The petrol motors will include a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit producing 296bhp and 400Nm of torque while the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder unit will produce 395bhp and 550Nm of torque.

The diesel range will include a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 197bhp and 430Nm of torque. The D240 unit will be capable of producing 237bhp and 430Nm of torque while the D300 engine will be a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder unit that produces 296bhp and 650Nm of torque. Also on offer will be a P400 Plug-in Hybrid unit that will be tuned to produce a combined output of 398bhp.
