This is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. At Rs 31.84 lakhs, it sits right in the premium category and when you look at it, you know why.
It looks tall and handsome from the front, especially with the LED headlamps and the chrome highlights that flank the grille and move towards the edge of the bumper.
The robust bumper also has an integrated bash-plate to add to the SUV's credentials. Overall, the fascia is quite European in its styling with the Japanese edginess and contours clearly being the highlight.
The profile reveals a large car with a long hood and a three-cab layout. The flared wheel arches add muscle to the equation while the chunky tyres and alloy-wheels give it the right stance.
The tail design blends in with the slashy cuts on the fascia and gets all LED tail lamps as well as rear fog-lamps. The flushed exhaust gives the tail a seamless look.
On the inside, the large black dash is busy with a host of buttons and the 6.1-inch touchscreen in the centre console, all bunched together for the driver to reach with ease.
The front seats are comfortable with the driver armrest and storage underneath. While the driver seat is electric, the passenger seat is manually adjustable.
The second row of seats are the split and tumble type which give access to the last row. They can also be folded up to have more cargo space and can be reclined for added comfort for the second-row passengers.
Like all three-row cars, the third row of seats is enough for mid-size adults and great for kids. The position of the second row of seats determines the leg-room in the back though.
With all the seats up, the boot-space is fairly limited. But with the last row down, you get limited space to load up the luggage.
The 2.4-litre MIVEC petrol engine pumps out 167bhp of power. Mated to a CVT automatic gearbox it also comes with a torque-on-demand AWD which can run in two-wheel mode as well.
