लैंड रोवर रेंज रोवर इवोक [2015-2016]

The Range Rover Evoque helped Tata Motors turn the ailing Jaguar-Land Rover brand around after the global economic slowdown of 2008-10. The Evoque was received well by the new generation of car buyers for its uber cool looks paired with the capabilities of a Land Rover – a combination that is undeniably attractive. The British SUV maker brought the updated MY2016 Evoque to India soon after its global launch.

Exterior

The 2016 Range Rover Evoque is a facelift. Locally assembled at the JLR facility in Pune, the updated model gets redesigned bumpers, new mesh grille and reworked full LED adaptive headlamps. The new skid plate and repositioned fog lamps give the car a meaner look. There are almost no changes to the side profile except for the slightly tweaked door mirrors and new alloy wheel designs. The tailgate remains unchanged except for the different tail-lamp internals.

The Range Rover will be available in all paint shades like red, black, blue, silver, white, including the optional white roof.

Interior

The interiors get their share of subtle changes too. The instrument cluster houses new clocks while the infotainment system features a new 8-inch touch-screen display. The door casings have changed and so have the seats. The dashboard retains the black colour with aluminium finish and metal inserts – typical Land Rover. The seat upholstery and door panels are wrapped in leather and can be chosen from a variety of colour options.

Engine and gearbox

The 2016 Range Rover Evoque gets only the 2.2-litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The oil-burner develops 188bhp of power at 3500rpm and 420Nm of torque from 1750rpm. The engine is mated to the latest 9-speed gearbox to drive all four wheels. It gets a host of driver aids like Drive modes for different surfaces, hill-hold, hill-descent control and an electronic stability program replete with traction control, ABS with Electronic brake-force Distribution and Anti-Skid Control.

Competition and price

The Range Rover Evoque competes with the Audi Q5, the Mercedes GLE, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the BMW X3, all being essentially 5-seater SUVs like the Evoque.
